The "wink wink" Thread 2010: This Time It's Personal

trr005:
So I just have a question about uploading/ listening.

Would it be better quality wise for me to rip at 320kb/s, or 320 kp/s VBR?  Also, is iTunes a decent ripper? Or should I use something else to rip?

...not sure if this is the correct place, but figured it'd be fine.  Thanks!

chenghiz:
VBR is better than CBR. If you're ripping a CD, you should use Exact Audio Copy: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

amok:
More accurately, CBR is better if the quality is higher (obviously) but it takes longer to upload and it's wasted on most guitar music. For indie etc. use V0 VBR. For electronic music with decent production go with 320 CBR. If it's some kind of fucked up hybrid of the two, flip a coin or something idk.

E. Spaceman:
To wit, CBR is used on a lot of electronic mjusic because some cdjs or programs have difficulty calculating the BPM on vbr files.* of course this shouold not be a problwm becaise we can all calculate bpm manially.

screamingfool:
wow, talk about fap-typing
