I completely forgot to say these things in my last post.
First up, www.sordomusic.com will search several widely used file hosting sites for your search terms.
Google can be used for blogs using the "site:" command.
Type "site:www.sitehere.com" without the quotation marks, followed by your search terms. Especially useful for blogger.com! There's a ton of tricks with google, I can't even remember most of them.
DD mentioned not having the time to search through blogs to find stuff. Well, now you don't have to!

Thing is guys, searching blogs requires you to know what you're looking for. You might already be familiar with everything that gets uploaded here but me personally, I don't read any music reviews except the ones on collective-zine so anything recent on here that isn't DIY punk/hardcore/metal/indie will probably be news to me (and even most of that is new too). Not everyone who posts something really obvious to you will know that it's all over the internet, although I guess with a big name album leak you really ought to be able to work it out. But still, one person's staple is another's obscure gem. Although funnily enough, the music in this post (and most of my posts come to think of it) will meet all of your criteria perfectly, so everyone's happy.

Anyway, music time in the shape of Belle Epoque. In case you can't guess this is French screamo, and good stuff. If you dig on Anomie, Daitro, La Quiete, Amanda Woodward and the like then this is definitely worth getting. Particularly since apparently this demo goes for about €40 (insane, it only cost about a quid!) on ebay as it's the UK tour edition and was limited to 130, so unless you're a record collector you won't be getting a physical copy.

Belle Epoque - Demo (UK Tour Edition)

And now for some grindcore. 5 songs in 3 minutes, hyperspeed technical aggression from Leeds. Imagine Narcosis compressed, or As The Sun Sets. At the time of this recording the band featured ex/current members of Narcosis, Reth, The Afternoon Gentlemen, Red Stars parade, Stigma and a bunch of others I don't remember right now. Since they have to learn their sets as one long song (it's too fast to do as anything but muscle memory) you'll never get to hear these songs again live since they've moved on to new material, nor will they ever make an appearance on an album.

It is nice to come here and find out when something has leaked, though. I never would have known about Arm's Way, At Mount Zoomer or Narrow Stairs otherwise.

Also, Sox's tips are very good. I have only recently gotten into searching blogs and such for my own stuff (before school I primarily used Bittorrent, and then when that got blocked at school this became my only source for finding/listening to new stuff) and I think that informing people of how to conduct their own searches for what they want would alleviate a lot of the request business going on in this thread.

i think this will be like my 14th upload or something, wooo!

anyways, ill try and get you guys into a really amzaing doom metal band (not like electric wizard, more like candlemass) with some really heavy, mid tempo guitar riffing, often exotic and melodic solos and a really amazing opertatic clean vocalist. the band is solitude aeturnus. ill put up 2 albums.

Solitude Aeturnus - Into The Depths Of Sorrow

Quote
"Into The Depths Of Sorrow"... the debut of Texan SOLITUDE AETURNUS conquered the Doom Metal-fans by storm, because they offered us something (in 1990) that back then only CANDLEMASS had been doing.

They didn't follow the classical Doom-alley marked by bands like ST.VITUS, OBSESSED and co., but chose a very epic, melodic and varied variant, which from then on had been labelled as Epic Power Doom. This implies that they do not rely on pure slow-motion only, but cleverly integrate breaks and faster passages, giving the songs dynamics that many related bands seemingly do not even know that exist.

After the intro "Dawn Of Antiquity (A Return To Despair)" "Opaque Divinity" shows, what SOLITUDE AETURNUS are all about: Metal, deeply rooted within Doom, with grand melody-arches, loosened up by mid-paced, sometimes even double-bass-driven passages and over it all the truly majestic vocals of Robert Lowe, whose high, but never unnerving voice oozes of a power that you'll find only once in a million!

Basically there is not a single filler on this album: "Transcending Sentinels" convinces by its long acoustic intro with a few atmospheric keyboards in the background before rising in to powerful and melodic Doom, which you can clearly identify as SOLITUDE AETURNUS, while "Dream Of Immortality" could almost be described as progressive, a very good riff-frame is underlaid with a variable rhythm and the band always is managing not to stay in one tempo for too long, but yet never loses the dynamic flow within the song.

While "Destiny Falls To Ruin" shows all facets of the SOLITUDE AETURNUS-sound, "White Ship" is most probably the heaviest track, borne by a brilliant melody the Texans unleash fat mid-tempo-double-bass in the middle, driving the song along, before "Mirror Of Sorrow" offers us the mist doomy feeling, very slow, but those melodies... And "Where Angels Dare To Tread" is another titbit, standing knee-deep in Doom, but still a bit faster than the track before.

With this debut SOLITUDE AETURNUS more or less have redefined the genre of Doom Metal, with a sound that should not only appeal the die-hard-Doomsters, but also Progressive and Power Metal-fans, because the variety that this band has to offer is just excellent and the vocals are nothing short of divine!
its in pretty high quality, so it is split in 2

Solitude Aeturnus - Adagio

Quote
SOLITUDE AETURNUS are back, again on a new label, but "Adagio" clearly stands in the tradition of their previous four albums, both musically as quality-wise. After "Downfall" had seen a few foreign elements, the classical epic Doom reigns supreme on "Adagio", only the guitars have a slightly modern touch to their sound, but apart from that everything is pure SOLITUDE AETURNUS.

After the quite spheric intro "My Endtime" they prove once more with "Days Of Prayer" that they deserve every praising word uttered about them in the past: grand melodies, a good portion of epicism, variable arrangements with faster passages loosening up the sound and the again brilliant voice of Robert Lowe. "Believe" surprises with a slight oriental touch and excels in its intensity, while the following "Never" provides us with some pure doom, viscous like lava, but garnished with great melodies...

"Idis" is one of the absolute highlights of "Adagio", classic SOLITUDE AETURNUS with faster passages and a strong chorus, before "Personal God" falls off a bit with its rather strange atmosphere and rather flowing character, before the slow-paced "Mental Picture" raises the level again and with the straight "Insanity's Circles" they have reached their excelsior class again. Quite dark is "The Fall", consisting of an acoustic guitar and quite deep vocals only, short, but effective!

After the quite typically slow-paced "Empty faith" with the usual good vocals, SOLITUDE AETURNUS prepare for their final battle with the quite Gothic sounding, dark "Empty Faith", "Spiral Descent" with its oriental melodies again and the closing cover-version of the BLACK SABBATH-classic "Heaven And Hell", which is plainly brilliant, the whole song sounds as if it had been written especially for Robert Lowe's voice, superb!

Fifth album, fifth killer, could be the conclusion about "Adagio" and who has heard the Texans once knows that you won't find any better epic and powerful Doom around!

I think the main point you all need to be taking away from Sox's rantings if nothing else is this:

BUY MORE MUSIC.  SUPPORT MUSICIANS AND INDEPENDANT RECORD LABELS.  DON'T JUST DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING.

You know, I'd like to but I  quite simply do not have the money for it.

I've gotten so much from this thread (hurray for the Bikini Kill tape) that I have to contribute something:

Project Jenny, Project Jan is a poppy, dancy electronic duo from Brooklyn.  I have no clue how well they are known elsewhere, but they are silly and a lot of fun.  Here is the amg:
Quote
Although Project Jenny, Project Jan describe their own music as "electro karaoke," the most obvious point of comparison is the synth pop era of Sparks, circa Angst in My Pants. Keyboardist Sammy Rubin is the Ron Mael figure, standing stoically behind a bank of laptops and sequencers while the brashly outgoing Jeremy Haines sings often extremely funny tunes about losing the negatives to those dirty pictures of your girlfriend and the glories of those cheap buses that run between Boston's, New York's, and Philadelphia's Chinatowns and only occasionally burst into flames on the Interstates. Elements of Beck in his cut-up electro mode and the good-time trash of Danish duo Junior Senior come to mind as well in these mashups of seemingly every electronic-based musical style of the preceding four decades. Rubin and Haines first appeared with Project Jenny, Project Jan's self-titled, self-released debut EP in 2005. The full-length debut, XOXOXOXOXO, followed in 2007.

The file contains their EP plus three additional tracks.

The Waukees are a pitch perfect Italian pop-punk band under the influence of the Ramones/Screeching Weasel.  So if you are into that sort of thing, yay.  They have a female vocalist and sing in English.  Shout It Louder! has 8 tracks, comes in under 12 minutes, and I can listen to it on repeat.

I have taken, taken, taken. Now is the time to give something back! I'd rather not clutter up the thread with unwanted music so if anyone wants any:

Architecture in Helsinki - Places Like This
Fabric 34 mixed by Ellen Allien
Black Mountain - In The Future
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Cat Power - The Greatest
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder
Cursive - Happy Hollow
Daft Punk - Discovery or Homework
Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
Iron & Wine - Shepherd's Dog
Make Believe - Goin' to the Bone Church
Mogwai - Mr. Beast
Ratatat - Classics
Steeleye Span - Present
Vitalic - Ok Cowboy
Watch TV & The Primetimes - Discolexia

Just give me a call. (Wow, long-ish post)

EDIT: Well, apparently "The identifier you are using is invalid." I wont be able to give any music, unless someone can give me any help.

i made a thread a few days ago about icelandic music and some people asked to put some on mediafire, but i don´t want to put entire albums because i know some of these artists personally and i know they wouldnt be happy about their music being on the internet so instead i made a bit of a compilation with some of my favourite icelandic songs. There should be something for everyone here, everything from reggae to rock and indie, and hardcore to death metal, even some pop songs.
and by all means yell at me if i´m not doing this right and i´ll try to fix it
enjoy

Kids, there seems to be a lot of nitpicking and stuff going on here, so let me share something with you.
When I made shane create this thread I had a pretty specific purpose. This is The Purpose of the Mediafire Thread*:

If you have an album that you feel that other people will like, upload it here. That's it.

Now, having said that, there are some other Guidelines.

If you are going to upload something really popular and easy to find, stop and think "Is it really worth it?". Most people will already have it from other sources, and if not, they probably should, hell they willl maybe even buy it.
This thread is not a P2P application, you can go to your own P2P application to do that.
Think about what you know (or think you know) about what other people listen to here. What do you think they will like more, more of the same, or something different?

Personally, When I upload something I try to make it something that many people will appreciate. Maybe it is an album that I really love and not many people here seem to know or like. Maybe it is a compilation of a genre usually ignored. Maybe it is something that really everyone should have but for some reason don't. Maybe it is just something I believe other people will enjoy but wouldn't lgo out of their way to look for it. Maybe it is just something people would not normally have access to.

On the other hand, when I use the thread for downloading, I really never go looking for a specific album. I opewn it and browse through it and maybe somethng catches my eye. Maybe it is a band i head of but never ever listened to. Maybe it has a name i like, Maybe the cover is interesting. Maybe i meant to download something else but pated the wrong link! Whatever the reasonning, sometimes i end up with an album I like and i try to find it and buy it. Sometimes i get other related stuff. Most of the time i forget about it and delete it.

Emilio that was exactly what I was going to say but I think I got caught up in being indignant and kind of dickish.

Anyhow, now I'm going to practice what I (try to) preach and upload some music that I think people would enjoy listening to.

Five Star Prison Cell-Slaves of Virgo

Quote from: OzProg.com
Variously labeled math metal, tech metal and other such vague and indescriptive titles, Melbourne's Five Star Prison Cell have released one of the most intricate, brutal, confronting, challenging and downright awe-inspiring jaunts of the year with Slaves Of Virgo.
Drawing comparisons with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge and Fantomas - and with the all-too-common Mike Patton comparison applied to vocalist Adam Glynn - Slaves is chaotic to the core. It can be hard to find your feet listening to a release such as this, with angular riffs and off-kilter vocals all over the place, but I was relieved to discover just enough melody, groove and experimentation to draw the listener in and repel any possibility of boredom.

But make no mistake, this is 40 minutes of intense and powerful heavy metal that leaves you wanting so much more.

The lone breaks among the barrage are in "Deloris" - written and recorded originally by jazz metal band Extra Virgin/Simian Gibbet, former home of 5*PC's guitarist Marek Holain and bassist Cam MacDonald - and "Asleep In The House Of Fables".

Almost as if it were a joke, the listener is treated to a mere 53 seconds of breathing time with the instrumental before being smashed square in the face by "M", which could be described as a more brutal Meshuggah.

The next song, "The Rise And Fall Of Red Sparrows", is jazzy, groovy and - with guest vocals provided by Glynn's Coitus Bund bandmate Rebekah Chapman - provides a welcome contrast to the almost inpenetrable wall of sound present in the preceeding track.

But apart from these slight variations, Slaves Of Virgo is an unconpromising, brutal and fuck-off-heavy ball of metal. There is an unmistakable sense of mass to the production courtesy of dw Norton - previously of Superheist and now with Walk the Earth - which makes the comparisons to Dillinger and Converge all the more accurate.

By the time it comes to its heaving sigh of a conclusion with "The Harridan Marathon", Slaves of Virgo will surely have pleased any fan of math metal, tech metal or pythagorean metal (or whatever other stupid title is coined tomorrow).

Does the idea of guitars and drums being used to create noise and then suddenly shudder into improvised, snarling rock with the emphasis on kicking some serious dick in before collapsing once more into incohesive eardrum abuse appeal to you? Then you'll probably enjoy Lambsbread. These guys were one of the highlights of the Nightmare Before Christmas in 2006 despite only playing for around ten minutes, and the only time I've ever seen a mosh pit for a noise band. Lambsbread seem to take bad-ass rock and roll to new levels, there's nothing clinical about this noise it's all about kicking out the best jams possible. At that ATP they were selling a number of limited edition CDRs and this is one of those. Obviously there's no picture available online but I really like the look of it so here's one of me holding the CD up.

PROTIP: Any album leak can be found by doing a Google search like this:

"BAND NAME" "ALBUM TITLE" leak download

i couldn't find Mates of State's new 'Re-Arrange Us' with the search :/
That's because it has to leak first.

If you have an album that you feel that other people will like, upload it here. That's it.

I had always thought that this was the core concept of this thread.  To me this thread was going swimmingly the last time I checked.  The rules that are put in place are pretty good, I think.  So long as people upload to something reliable like Mediafire and if they are gonna host images use something that won't turn the image into a frog with a crown or a couple of drunken bints mooning the camera when the link is recycled a month from now (like Imageshack does) then who gives a fuck what they are sharing, so long as they are sharing.

I want to put into effect a couple of new "rules".  These shouldn't be official & re-typed etc, but I feel that they are kind of important.

One: Stop putting the rules in 30 pt font.  We get it.  They are rules.  16 pt font max from now on please, everything bigger than that is goddamned ridiculous.

Two: If you are not the creator of a thread or a mod or an admin then you have no right to try to dictate how a thread should proceed.  If you think that there are problems with a thread and if you can't work things out civilly then PM one of the mods and we'll sort things out as best we can.

First, I want to say thanks for all the great music. You guys are the best.

Second, everybody has different tastes, lives in different countries, what's cool in one place isn't in another, etc...  It's impossible to know all the good music out there, so I say if YOU think it's good POST IT!

Lastly, special thanks to those who posted Bowery Electric. You may like the following (if you've never heard it).

Formed as an outgrowth of New Zealand noise-exploration trio the Gordons, Bailter Space was, in the late '80s, doing something similar to what Sonic Youth sold in the '90s — hard, droning, unforgiving guitar music with occasional lapses into verse/chorus regularity. Only Bailter Space wasn't quite as interested in accessibility. Right from the band's debut EP, Nelsh, guitarist John Halvorsen specialized in an abrasive, almost pitchless assault that could feel as polished and smooth as sheet metal, and his foils — ex-Gordons guitarist Alister Parker, Clean drummer Hamish Kilgour (later replaced by Gordons drummer Brent McLachlan when Kilgour settled in the New York area and formed the Mad Scene) — worked to feed that sound, contributing feedback gales and arty, disjointed backbeats that never felt fully settled.

MOAR PUNX!!!

The Broadways - Broken Star

Quote
After the 1996 breakup of Chicago ska-punk legends Slapstick, Brendan Kelly (bass, vocals) and Dan Hanaway (trumpet, guitar, vocals) got together with ex-Tricky Dick guitarist Chris McCaughan (guitar, vocals) and Rob DePaola (drums) to form the Broadways. With the inspiration of politically charged lyrics over a background of pop-punk, comparisons to Fifteen, Crimpshrine, and Jawbreaker followed, as their own Bicycle Records released the band's 1997 debut EP, We All Know That You Can Do It. Following a signing with Asian Man Records, their second EP (Big City) and first album (Broken Star) were released, before the Broadways broke up in 1998. The next year, Asian Man Records released the collection album Broken Van; meanwhile, McCaughan and Kelly moved on to start the Lawrence Arms and Hanaway and DePaola formed the Honor System.

Street Dogs - Back To The World

Nothing from AMG, but I'll say that "In Defense of Dorchester" is probably my favorite Street Dogs song.

Street Dogs - Fading American Dream

Quote
Street Dogs sum up their stance within the first moments of their third album, Fading American Dream: "This is a battle cry for the common people/the forgotten, nowhere kids stuck in the middle/We're singing this song for all of the common people/Who've given up so much and gotten back so little." Street Dogs are a Boston punk band through and through, and just as on their previous albums, their working-class roots shine through as a badge of honor amid all of the dripping sweat, camaraderie, spilled pints, raised fists and, oh yeah, hooks galore. Just like their brothers in the Dropkick Murphys, they have no time for here today, gone tomorrow trends; they're way too busy busting out anthem after blistering street anthem. But their energy is directed into more than just sloshing beer around, and this 13- song set voices frustrations at the state of the country even more so than the band has in past. Sure there's the charming inebriation of "Tobe's Got a Drinking Problem," but more often than not, the Dogs are focusing in on questionable politics and how those decisions effect them and their neighbors down the street. There's a lot more heart here than the standard "the President sucks and we're pissed" fare. So just as the sarcastic hardcore punch of "Decency Police" addresses infringements on the First Amendment ("Watching out for us, who needs freedom when you have them?"), the ringing chords of the title track, and "Katie Bar the Door" ("Singing another union song? You're goddamn right I am") focus on families just struggling to get by. There's even a cover of Billy Bragg's "There Is Power in a Union" thrown in for good measure (see above quote), while the Irish-flavored "Shards of Life" and stripped-down "Final Transmission" lament casualties of war from two different angles. No matter what the subject, however, Mike McColgan and crew are seemingly incapable of writing a song that doesn't spur an instantaneous singalong. And seeing as each track is enveloped in an emotional coat of defiance and empowerment, Fading American Dream is simply another heartfelt statement from a band that deserves to be heard.

The Proletariat - Soma Holiday

AMG's got nothing on this, but it was released in 1983. If you downloaded the "This Is Boston, Not L.A." comp I posted a few weeks back, you're probably semi-familiar with these guys. They were probably the least "hardcore" band of the Boston Hardcore scene in the early 80s, maybe a little more post-punk than hardcore. Played a few shows back in the day with Mission of Burma.

the new album seems to be a different sound for MoS just from listening to "Get Better," but really like what i'm hearing and can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Woman King doesn't have enough material to be an album, so technically it's a mini-LP. Also, it's his seventh official release.

Dammit i was gonna say it, so here it is anways

3 minutes too long for an EP.

Single - under 10min usually 1-2 songs
EP - 10-20min
Mini-LP - 20-30min
LP - 30-80min

Although the UK, the Official Chart Company defines a cut off between EP and album classification at 25 minutes length or 4 tracks (plus alternative versions of featured songs). According to this I'm still right and steevo is still wrong because Woman King has 6 tracks, was released in 2005 and the Iron and Wine Tour EP, released in 2002, also has 6 tracks.

Alright, I'm in the process of uploading Coil's "best of collection" of sorts, A Golden Hare With a Voice of Silver. A great 2-disc entry for Coil newbs. I must've been about 17 when I got it. I was only familiar with Coil through their remix work with Nine Inch Nails, but I was curious because their remixes were more deconstructions than anything. I didn't know anything about them, who they were, what they looked like, and I couldn't find anything of theirs anywhere where I lived, of course. So on a trip to Paris I visited a Virgin Megastore and they had this (rather illegal) Russian-made compilation. I bought it, along with an Aphex Twin bundle (I Care Because You Do / RDJ Album) and they just about changed my life.

Here's the first disc, A Voice of Silver, in 2 parts.

Nuh-uh! According to the UK Charts company, to qualify as an album, a CD must

a) have more than 4 tracks

OR

b) play for more than 30 minutes in total

Woman King has 6 tracks, so it is an album.

That means that Reign in Blood is not an album, then.

Basically what I am getting at it that the UK Charts Company doesn't now shit.

Yes, Reign In Blood would be classified as an album by the UK Charts Company. However, Caspian's still right in saying they don't know shit. According to their rules Smackdown's self-titled EP is an album because it has eight tracks. It's not an album, it's an EP. They're wrong. Also, they have no category for mini-album so Woman King would be classified as an album by them as well. The time-based categories you posted are flawed as well, since I can think of tons of albums that don't reach 30 minutes in length. Humanfly's A God Among Insects is about 17 minutes in length I think, but it's definitely an album and not an EP or mini-album. The band were very clear on that.

I've just started uploading three albums, so here's the placeholder for them while they upload:

Ozma: The Doubble Donkey Disk

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?jnam9omexlyYea, they sound like Weezer. Like, a lot. Like, if you put an uninitiate in an A/B test, he would not be able to discern any difference from the two. Well, apart from the fact that Ozma didn't start to turn into an enormous piece of crap, took the Weezer power-pop sound and bumped the arrangements, hooks, synths, and overall sound up several notches. This album is split between two EPs- "The Russian Coldfusion" and "The Bootytraps". Somehow, both of these, while having different themes, sum up to a very cohesive album.

The Dismemberment Plan: Emergency And I

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?j3joizgekmtA schizophrenic motherfucker of an album that keeps the hooks cool on ice and has you guessing every song. Just about every song here is purest gem, cut with finest knife- "You Are Invited" starts with Travis Morrison's voice solo and a drum machine, and builds up into a power-pop climax, "Girl O'Clock" is one huge adrenaline rush about being way too horny for your own good, "Back And Forth" is a foot-moving loose-limbed funk jam... shit, talking about music really is like dancing about architecture, so just download this fucking album already.

Polvo: Cor-Crane Secret

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?bxz3bbmesdwIt would be easy for me to say that Polvo could very well be the bastard children of Sonic Youth and Archers of Loaf, but it would be a disservice to all three bands. I'm sure tommydski has gone to length about how amazing this band was, so just read his take on it and take a good, long listen to Cor-Crane Secret.

Yeah yeah, pick it up!

The Aggrolites - Dirty Reggae

Quote
If the Aggrolites have a stated mission, it's to remind modern audiences what proper ska sounded like, whether in Kingston in 1963 or in London in 1979. The Aggrolites formed in 2002, originally getting together as the backing band for a one-off Los Angeles show backing Jamaican music legend Derrick Morgan. Gathering members from two minor Southern California reggae acts, the new band consisted of lead guitarist Jesse Wagner, rhythm guitarist Brian Dixon, organist Roger Rivas, bassist J. Bonner, and drummer Korey Horn. The concert was a success, and the band stuck together to record an album with Morgan that was never completed. Emboldened despite the recording setback, the band took the name the Aggrolites ("aggro" being a slang term of the ska-loving skinhead subculture of Britain in the 1960s and '70s, meaning pent-up aggression, and "lites" in tribute to the greatest ska band of all time, the Skatalites) and became the go-to guys on the West Coast ska and reggae circuit, backing a wide variety of golden-age Jamaican and British artists on their American dates, including the great Prince Buster and Culture lead singer Joseph Hill. On their own, with Rivas' funky organ work taking the instrumental lead in substitution for their lack of a horn section and Wagner taking vocal duties, the Aggrolites recorded their debut album, Dirty Reggae, at a live-in-the-studio session in 2003.

Opened for Dropkick Murphys on their '07 St. Patty's tour. Interesting as all hell live. They have two other albums (a self-titled, and "Reggae Hit LA"), but I don't have them yet.

Greg Davis - Somnia

Quote
Greg Davis’ Somnia exhibits enormous restraint, employing technology in an extremely subtle way to scintillating effect. Known best for his laptop folk excursions, Somnia features Davis exploring ambient territory, the kind that only served as subtext of his previous records, Arbor and Curling Park Woods. The process on this record is fairly transparent: each track consists of a single instrument played through and processed in real-time by a computer. The tone of the source instruments – acoustic guitar, harmonica, Rhodes, magnus chord organ – determine the timbre of the pieces and, because Davis works in a dronesphere that might be significantly harshened by the severe contortion of those sounds, contribute to the record’s summery sameness. In other words, these drones are exactly as beautiful as one might expect them to be, and frequently suffer from the banality of that sort of beauty.

Heres some power metal, Stratovarius - Visions

from wikipedia
Quote
Stratovarius was a Finnish power metal band that formed in 1984 and broke up in 2008. Although the German band Helloween is considered the earliest pioneer of the genre, Stratovarius is often regarded as crossing from classic power metal to keyboard-heavy modern power metal, influencing numerous bands to emerge during the 1990s. Some of Stratovarius's material, particularly their mid-career albums such as Fourth Dimension can be heard to have some progressive metal elements. While their first two albums (Fright Night and Twilight Time) have some NWOBHM elements.

So, here's something I haven't put up before, and something I did, but was in the half of the thread that got the axe.

Tilly & the Wall - Bottoms of Barrels

Quote from: All Music Guide
Tilly and the Wall's second album retains all the hook-filled exuberance, angst, drama, and emotion that made their first album such a thrill. Also, the drummer is still a tap dancer and a damn fine one, and the vocalists (Kianna Alarid, Neely Jenkins, and Derek Pressnall) still harmonize and wail like the heartbroken kids they sing about. Most importantly, the songs are mostly as strong and memorable as before, especially those that feature female lead vocals like the rollicking opener "Rainbows in the Dark," "Black and Blue," and the wild mariachi horn-filled "Bad Education." (Though the songs with group vocals like "Sing Songs Along" and the nearly-country "Brave Day" are nice too.) What has changed here is the sound of the band. With more experience, they have gained confidence as well as musical expertise. The recording is warm, rich, and layered with the addition of twangy guitars, stately pianos, expensive-sounding organs, and a coating of cozy reverb. It makes for a more professional and listenable record, but the sonic improvements lessen the impact of the songs and performances just enough to make the record a slight disappointment. Slight. Maybe knocks it down from stunning (as Wild Like Children was) to super-good, but that's not a bad place to be, really. And you can't blame them for growing up a little and shedding some of the inspired amateurism, rough edges, and unhinged passion they previously exhibited. It happens to just about every band. The trick is to stay true to the original ideals the band began with as you grow. Tilly and the Wall have done that here, and as long as they keep making records as committed as Bottoms of Barrels, they will remain a band worth believing in.

Tera Melos - Untitled

Totally awesome, frantic, jerky, upbeat, math rock stuff.  (I think it's math rock, anyways.)
