This is a great album.  "Over at the Frankenstein Place" and "Sweet Transvestite" are definite highlights.  I must say, i was somewhat disappointed with "Time Warp" though.

he really is pretty awesome-- totally enthusiastic, full of good humor and good jokes, endearingly emotional, and generous with hooks. He's good company. A lot of the people who try to inject personal, pop-vocal vibes into this sort of music wind up feeling like they're trying too hard-- attempting to be cool or stylish, or just navigating the distance between dance music and boyish pop in a way that's too self-conscious, too calculated, too audible; you wind up wishing they'd just make proper electronic music and leave the rest alone. Muscles blows past that: He makes party tracks and pours his voice all over them in a way that's unembarrassed, almost puppyish, and not at all hard to like.

The Australian dance-pop group Cut Copy, fronted by multi-instrumentalist/DJ/graphic designer Dan Whitford, ends their stellar debut album with "A Dream," a mellow come down from a record scattershot with retro-dance and rock ideas fitted together with ebullient grooves. Perhaps it would have been better served as an introduction to what is such a free flowing, unrestrained electronic dance record. Bright Like Neon Love -- and by extension Whitford -- is so enamored with simple ideals of dance music, it feels like a dreamy, unconscious state of hypnotic rhythms designed purely for easy listening. Conversely, in no way does this strong rookie effort ever really test the listener -- rarely does Whitford expand beyond the confines of catchy synth loops and simplistic, manipulated vocals -- but as a perfectionist of the pop music craft, any one of these nine main tracks (there are two interludes; and "That Was Just a Dream" and "Zap Zap" are really just one song) could have appeared on a Kylie or Madonna record as sure-fire hit singles. At times the rock star in Whitford seems to supersede the '80s pop fanatic, most notably the infectious synth-meets-guitars riff on "Going Nowhere," the largely instrumental "The Twilight" and the near alternative rock/post-grunge of "Bright Neon Payphone," yet the album's greatest strength is how Whitford remains on an even keel throughout, almost melting down his favorite rock and dance elements to their most simplistic state to make them more palatable. As jarring as switching from synths to guitars can be, Bright Like Neon Love remains consistently a pop record.

From the first swirling synths and gleaming melodies of curtain raiser "Feel the Love", In Ghost Colours asserts itself as a hugely magnanimous record. Everything here sounds stadium-sized, loved-up, and breezily inclusive. There's the lead single "Lights & Music", an arena rock slow burner with a disco chorus; or the superb, helicoptering house of 2007 single "Hearts on Fire", which gets a welcome reprise; or the sunburst rock of "Unforgettable Season", which recalls Broken Social Scene in its ability to sound in full swoon from chord one; or the carefree "Strangers in the Wind", whose lazy verse and torpid guitar peels owe a little bit to Fleetwood Mac. Elsewhere, "So Haunted" and "Far Away" compete for standout track status, the former sandwiching verses of fuzzy guitar squall around one of the most gorgeous-sounding choruses of the year, the latter an effervescent bit of 80s synth fluff that holds up against the best of Human League and Erasure.

this is probably one of the most definitive 'hardcore punk' records. gritty, and grotty this record is fucking awesome and wrecks through a full 20 minutes, and doesn't let go. vile are one of THE seminal bands from boston.

So you want a record that totally destroys the fuck out of everything you own? Get this. This is fucking VILE, and it's a record that crosses all the PC boundaries of punk rock. This record is for you.

Of course there are still the trademark poetic tales of heartbreak and existential angst we have come to expect from Oldham - this time, though, they are delivered by a new, incredibly talented troupe of musicians driving a whole host of lovely melodies with clunking keys, subtle percussion, shimmering acoustic guitars, banjos, violins, woozy horns and soulful harmonies to beguiling effect.

It's not so much an issue of harm, but why not just have a sticky thread titled "music blogs" with links to those, otherwise what's to stop this thread from getting cluttered up with hundreds of copy-pastes from blogs?

It's really more of an issue about not being a dick with somebody elses uploads. Mediafire has a 'policing' system where downloads that generate a lot of traffic are checked out. If it's copyrighted material, it's usually removed. Combine this with the fact that there are people whose job it is to search for illegally distributed copyrighted material and monitor hotspots (such as blogs, or forum threads like this one), links get taken down MUCH faster. I've seen another forum where all links get removed within a day or two of being posted, but I don't know whether it was due to traffic or 'net police'.

I do not. There was something written on mediafire somewhere, and I read an article that listed Mediafire.com as one of the hosting sites that employed people to check out uploads that generated a lot of traffic. I doubt this forum could generate that sort of traffic, but if stealing links becomes the norm, then it's a pretty sure thing eventually. It's the same as people saying one vote doesn't count or people thinking they don't have to recycle. Like it or not, you're perpetuating a cycle of sorts.
