--- Quote from: LoliBot on 24 Nov 2011, 23:10 ---I won't disagree with that. I spend a lot of time around geeks and nerds--I do mean a considerable amount. And the kind of geek Marigold is proving to be is exactly the kind I avoid. We have all been made fun of in our lives as geeks. Our job should be to be as kind as possible to others, to show that we haven't been beaten down by their cruelty, that we can rise above all of the teasing and bullying and insults. We should think of ourselves as equal to others and never as better: That's the kind of thing the awful people do. I know Faye and Marigold have had some stressful times with each other, but I really thought Marigold was capable of rising above her jealousy and agreeing to be friends with Faye. I'm sure Marigold has been made fun of for her glasses and has probably broken them before (or had them broken by someone cruel)--why spread the hate? That's something we need less of, not more. If she doesn't like the way Faye treats people, then maybe she should learn to be an example instead of sinking to her level. Plus, it was just a random, childish thing. It was unnecessary. Surely Marigold knows how to be classier than that. I am just really disappointed.

This.
Maybe Marigold is just thinking of her friendship to Faye as something she can be a bit "high-nose" in once in a while. I don't think any of the characters present go into such deep thought about anything Marigold does. I get the feeling they still see her as kinda... simple-minded, no?
--- Quote from: LoliBot on 24 Nov 2011, 23:10 ---Soulsynger: The bridge got broken somehow in her pie episode that morning, so she had to tape the pieces of her glasses together, something that is typically associated with bullied nerds (because mean people like to break glasses--I haven't had this happen, but I know it does).

Far as I know, it got broken by Padma in the Going-Dancing-Storyarc that led to Marten' current dilemma. But I see the reasoning now and it kinda strikes me as obvious.
I need my coffee. Thanks for the explanation. ^^
edit:
Hey... someone else notice the red "while you were typing"-warning is gone? I'm scared.

Lolibot,
I don't really disagree as far as you go, but Faye isn't actually a nerd, and what's more, I think she can take a bit of sass. She's not that thin-skinned.
edit: "think-skinned"? I blame the iPhone. ;p

Aw. I just looked that up and now I'm all disappointed. My dad told me that story as a child, but he presented it as something that had happened in a live news broadcast. Until just now I totally thought some reporter had legitimately dropped a whole bunch of turkeys from a helicopter on live television thinking they could fly, and then had to make a public apology.

I don't think she's thin-skinned, either, but what I mean is that, as a nerd, Marigold should be a lot more sensitive toward other people's feelings if she wishes to be treated kindly in return. I didn't really think of it as sass, more so as Marigold trying to make herself feel like she's better than Faye. And that's what problem I have with it.
Edit: Oops, meant to reply to this!

Just looked it up--I totally forgot about that already. XD Here is Hanners putting the tape on the glasses, which is kind of funny since she mentions taping herself into her shirt here. :P And haha, I know the feeling--no problem. :)

Well, I guess I didn't see it that way myself at all. I mean, everyone in the room knows Marigold is the nerd... I thought that was the whole joke.
I'd give Marigold a bit more credit than you seem to have, basically.
