The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks made a great distinction between immortal and invincible.

Hmm. I am getting a vibe that Mr York is a graduate student. I may be wrong, but to me stress-energy tensors sounds more like a study group/seminar/thesis topic rather than a topic for a serious research project. Grad students are supposed to work 24/7, so your concern is valid. But they have also been known to take breaks every now and then - particularly when not under the pressure of an imminent deadline.

Well, certainly! I spent a lot less time studying than I did other stuff myself, as a student. But still, taking breaks might not be easy when living on a space station - I would guess that you need a pretty serious reason for going back to Earth with any kind of regularity. Well, it probably doesn't go that far anyway. We'll see.

Looking ahead a few strips, it seems inevitable that Marigold will meet Hanners in the bathroom. I wonder whether she'll try to give her a pep talk or just push her back out again.

You guys are assuming a couple things...

A)  There's probably more than one bathroom, and Marigold will seek a less convenient one;

II)  Marigolds telling the truth in the first place and not looking for a place to hide.  A dark place.

This being Marigold a long distance cyber relationship might be just her thing.  Like Hannelore, but for different reasons, I doubt Marigold has had much experience with having a physical relationship with anyone, even something as limited as making out.

I'm thinking that maybe Francis can do better. Not trying to hate on Marigold, but he can at least try talking to a girl who won't run away when he tries talking to her.

Unless that's most girls' reaction to Francis' approach...

Yeah, Marigold, convinced by Hanners, will come back and find out he's the first person ever to MURDER a Pokémon.

Or he'll have caught a shiny Pokémon, Marigold will love him forever and have more babies than her lady parts can handle.

Yeah but she left her DS with him so he knows she'll be back (she probably did it unintentionally but the effect is the same).

Yeah, I dunno ... one could argue Marigold was more comfortable and a better match with Major Otaku. At least she sat in the same room with the guy for six hours, and they have common ground to talk about something. Francis seems to be all like "hrr drr locked in the lab for fourteen months, hrr drr zomg bewbs i'm in luuuuuuuuuv"

I don't doubt that there's some pent up sexual frustration on Francis part, but you can't speculate that he truly is only after some booty. I like to think that there are guys out there who truly do like girls like Marigold: Chubby, nerdy, and quiet/shy. (My husband is proof there is.) Anyway, I have a feeling that Hanners (even though she's been on Earth for years now) would be a bit more protective if she thought the situation were anything akin to "just a booty call." Hanners has a distinct way of knowing things like Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.

Also, the Major pulled out not only the Girl Scout Cookies but the Magical Love Gentleman manga as well, which has been well established as a Yaoi manga. I won't point fingers or anything but even my husband who LOVES manga/anime of all sorts admitted it would be hard for him to enjoy an entire manga based purely on Yaoi-ness. It's possible the Major is not really interested in Marigold or females in general.
