So many reasons. There are plushophiliacs, baby furs, the ones that are convinced that they truly are their chosen animal or character, the ones that are convinced that their soul is truly their chosen animal or character... and generally furries are very adamant about spreading this information and insisting they are not weird at all.

My only real contribution to this topic is an ever-present irritation at people's tendencies to generalize "furry" into a single broad category. For some reason, everyone I run into seems to think Furry == Zoophiliac, and anything animal related also == Furry. It's rather annoying when people can't (won't) distinguish between someone who appreciates Kemono or Anthros, and someone who identifies it as a sexual kink.
Personally, I see the sexual kink as more or less equivalent to other ones. Its just as weird as Scat, S/M, BDSM, and anything else out there. Everyone has their eccentricities after all.

Yeah I'm pretty much at a point where consensual sexual kinks have near impossible odds to weird me out. My interest in Body Modification killed the chance of pretty much anything else weirding me out.

You know, all common sense tells me what you're referring to is easily mundane, but for some reason "Body Mods" immediately brought my mind here.

It depends on what you consider mundane. Most people wouldn't call a meatotomy, subdermal implants or voluntary amputation mundane for example.
