for the right word, yes. hold on, let me give some examples (my friend asked me about a bunch of words and I have samples handy, haha):
Mellifluous reminds me of some kind of sugarplum fairy; she's draped in pinks and purples and reds, and looks not unlike a fuchsia plant. She's always happy and sometimes you think it might be put on, but it's just an effusive, expansive joy that you never question in while you're in its presence.
Piquant is a little kid who you want to strangle but also find it impossible to stay angry at. He's round-cheeked - not fat, not really; it's the sort of fat that burns off around puberty, anyhow. He dresses in yellows, oranges, and reds more often than not; someday he's going to find a football team with those colours and he'll become an instant fan, mostly so he can get away with wearing those colours more often.
Recalcitrant is a rock. That's not metaphorical; it's a blocky, dull, dark grey rock with white chunks in it.
Motile is a spash of very quickly moving colour. There might be a person under that blur, but if so, they must be some kind of superhero; the sheer saturation in the reds and blues wouldn't be seen on anyone else, really, especially in such high concentration.
Halcyon is kind of a melancholy type. She's reminiscent of a draiad in the loosest sense possible. She's small and frail in body, almost childlike in every respect, though something something...very old and heavy seems to lie within her, I suppose. It feels kind of mystical to say, and I rather try to avoid sounding mystical. Her favourite time of year is summer, especially those long nights with a full moon where the wind is still blowing warm. There was a pond by her house as a child, and she snuck out one night and sat by it to watch the moon underneath the willow there; long nights remind her of it still.
BAM. EXAMPLES.
