Physics?

I'd suggest looking at something involving the management of fluid dynamics on ceramic and metal surfaces. A little better suited to engineering graduates but there's a lot of opportunities available and physicists are equally capable of it.

The best review for a movie I've ever heard was for Battle: Los Angeles. It was just a few short words long. Setting, I'm a year out of the Marines and I'm walking out of the theater with my fiancee and another couple she's friends with. As we extricate ourselves from the mob scene near the exit, she stops dead, grabs my arm and pulls me around to look me in the eyes. "You are not reenlisting". I hadn't even said a WORD about what I thought about the movie yet >.>;

The horror! Pigs try to fly and fall from the skies! Cats and dogs living together in peace and harmony! Hell, Michigan, freezes over!

I'll have you know I've played paintball in Hell, Michigan.

tis a lot of fun in the winter, so long as your balls don't freeze together.

It's an idea for a song I had yesterday.

Drive through streets both cold and damp
in this sea of burnt streetlamps
I am working every day
and come home to hear you say

that you are lonely.

So I have a really poor sense of timing when it comes to showing up to events. I often leave 30 minutes early for a walk that take 10 minutes and show up awkwardly early, or I'll do the opposite and not leave enough time for a long trip. I also "lose track" of time very easily.

I don't know that if it's one of those DCD symptoms I never outgrew (much like my still-messy handwriting and occasional clumsiness) or if I'm just really bad at estimating things like travel time and distances.

The few times I've tried to adjust this timing, I've ended up late. And obviously at a university it's better to be early than late. But I can't seem to find that middle ground.

This little piece of poetry is the opening to one of my unfinished Original Fictions.

MIDNIGHT SEA

I sail upon the Midnight Sea
I search for that lost to me
Each pin of light calls to me

But ever there surrounding me
Is only dark silence

I sail upon the Midnight Sea
Her voice I hear close to me
But every time I turn to see

I find only silence

I wonder if there are any good restaurants in Hell, Michigan.
The Dam Site Inn. Haven't been there in 10 years or so. There really is a dam behind it, and I wonder how much of it's frozen over. It was a pizza and beer place when i first started going there to start our annual trip to Hell. It had an upscale menu for a few years, last I recall it's back to pizza.

The trip to Hell started there at 6 p.m. on the Saturday before Halloween. Participants went to the nearby state park, parked cars and walked two miles through woods on a path, lights discouraged. Some of us camped that night. All who went have bricks, gold, stamped with "Good Intentions Paving Co." My wife and I enjoyed it; we did it for 15 years or more, with as few as 2 others, as many as 15 or 20.

The news makes this joke every year. It's Central Michigan, it would be more surprising if it didn't freeze over. Think Dante's Inferno 9th Circle of Hell, and you get Michigan winters.

Today the person I'm interested in got her hair cut short. And it reminded me of what has apparently become a rule in my life going back to like sophomore year of high school. Every woman I've dated either already had short hair, or during the course of our relationship decided (totally on their own) that it was short hair time. I've never had a problem with that, it's just an unusual trend.

Just watched a star trek episode where Riker gets stung in the leg, infecting him with an alien microbe that attacks his nervous system, and it's so aggressive that it spreads to his brain so that they have to do some really weird mumbo jumbo to keep him going.

All I could think of was "why didn't you cut the fucking leg off you idiots?!" Some medical officer that is.

It's called a 'Bottle Show'.  One that mostly takes place on the Enterprise set(s) and has no outside filming or major or unreused Special Effects Shots.

If memory serves, it was made because they had blown a large chunk of the budget by that stage and simply had no extra finances to make a full episode.

yep. A well done bottle show can be great. Lots of room for character development/interaction. Clip shows on the other hand, well, they are rarely good.

The Simpsons had some good clip shows.

I enjoyed the Community clip shows where they talked about things that happened in universe that we've never seen.
Don't forget the second episode (of six) of Clerks: the Animated Series.
