Help me out here, guys - where is the puzzle on this page? Not what is the answer, but what is the puzzle?! My friend can't figure it out and has asked for help, and now I am desperate to know what we're failing to see...

That IS the whole puzzle, May. Look up rot13.com.

So what is the answer that you have to put into the box? Surely that can't be the whole puzzle - if you click "decrypt" it just tells you what the words are, without you having to do anything. If that were it then more than 4 out of 1373 people would have got it right!

OHHHHH.

See, May, it's a scavenger-hunt-like puzzle. Except you use GPS locators to find the clues, and then - when you get to the clue - you read it to find where the next one is.

Apparently, the first clue for this "cache" is in rot13 cypher (the alphabet moved 13 spaces to the right).

You would first have to find the cache using GPS coordinates, then look at the clue located there (usually in some sort of a box or container), and then decipher the clue using the rot13 to get a hint on where your next "clue" will be - or where your reward for finding the clue would be.

So I noticed today that my school's science building has a NFP 704 chart posted outside of it. And I noticed that everything was at a 4 and there were a lot of symbols in the white diamond, so I decided to look it up.

Apparently there are materials in that building that can be lethal, may explode at normal temperatures, will vaporize and readily burn at normal temperatures, are corrosive, acidic, and react violently or explosively with water and oxidizing.

Sounds like a fun place. I've yet to have any classes in there.

There are various joke versions of the NFP 704 chart that I've seen. If it's randomly posted on a wall, and not on a chemical container, I'd guess it's not an actual label. Most of the joke versions are something along the lines of this.

We've got some somewhat dangerous stuff in our lab. Cesium reacts violently with water, methanol and ethylene glycol are lethal if ingested (don't use the beakers to mix drinks  ), coumarin is a carcinogen if inhaled, and so on.

Typically it's because of an advert link that they got fed; it happened to QC about a year ago.

It was definitely an official, metal sign posted outside of the building. There was a door nearby, maybe it was describing the contents of that room. I don't think the fire department would appreciate that joke either.

Sure; the problem in the forum has always been how quickly shipping descends into creepiness, so it's best to nip it in the bud.

You would first have to find the cache using GPS coordinates, then look at the clue located there (usually in some sort of a box or container), and then decipher the clue using the rot13 to get a hint on where your next "clue" will be - or where your reward for finding the clue would be.

That would make perfect sense - except that my friend who is attempting to find this cache went to the location at the coordinates given, and it wasn't there. She asked someone who has solved the puzzle whether she just overlooked it and he said no, it's not at the location given, that's just an approximate location of the actual cache (because people choose to do these things based on geography, so it needed to be on the website in roughly the right place).

Bob, that might be fun! I've never actually done any geocaching although I've been intending to try for ages, but don't have a GPS.

*cracks knuckles*

H'okay then 'Relevant,' by the way, great brand name. I studied journalism at university and I would expected to fail if one of my magazines was called that.

First of all, this article actually wants to say 'people in their 20s' not 'people over 20.' Because 'people over 20' includes people aged 30 and upwards and this article is clearly not aimed at them.

Second of all, this is mostly absolute dick.

"1. Spending money you don’t have
Yeah that's fine, as long as 19 year olds have credit cards it's all good.

2. Wasting time on mindless entertainment instead of looking for a job
Who the fuck needs this advice?

3. Using the term “YOLO”
Is this a comedy article or are you already out of ideas?

4. Only going to church to find a relationship
Who the fuck does that?

5. Citing “Google” on a college paper or work presentation
Who the fuck does that? Is this advice for over 20s, or for bumblefuck idiots who probably wouldn't read an article about this anyway?

6. Thinking you know it all
Fair enough, but at the same time, such 20s folks wouldn't listen to this advice either. You are trying to give advice to people who don't take advice.

7. Dating with no vision
What a delightfully vague tip.

8. Demanding respect before you’ve earned it
This is just, assholes, in general. I'm pretty sure more 18 year olds do this than over 20s.

9. Waiting until the last minute to do things
Unless that method actually works for you, like it does for some people.

10. Getting in arguments over social media
Are you my mother?

11. Blaming others for your own mistakes
Is this advice or an Aesop's Fable?

12. Relying on your mother and father to constantly bail you out of trouble
*headdesk*

13. Calling off work for no reason
*head through desk*

14. Ignoring wisdom from people who are older than you
You said this one already.

15. Thinking minimum wage is worse than no job at all
A fair point that multiple people could do with learning.

16. Pretending like you didn’t know any better
Also a fair point.

17. Using the excuse, “I’m too young”
It is possible to be too young for some things.

18. Not planning for the future
Sorta reasonable.

19. Giving up before you start. Stop making excuses!
Fair point.

20. Being passive
"If you don’t stand for something, you’ll eventually fall for anything." You said this already."

Apologies jwhouk if you liked the article and were sharing it accordingly, but I'll happily listen to your response if you liked it.

It's veiled if you don't look at the headings, which most people don't. Like MoM, they just see a list-based article and assume it's buzzfeed or similar.

Next time someone asks me if I'm cold (I'm usually wearing fewer layers than people expect), I'll tell them that the cold never bothered me anyway. It's always been true, but now I have a cool way to say it!

But if I click play, am I generating views for a pro-christian video? or is it a spoof? I MUST KNOW BEFORE I CLICK.

When you see Christian material, just think about Sithrak instead!

5. Citing “Google” on a college paper or work presentation
Who the fuck does that? Is this advice for over 20s, or for bumblefuck idiots who probably wouldn't read an article about this anyway?

You'd be surprised (says the partner of a university teacher).

That was kind of why I clarified with the second point. It was just like at university when we got told we couldn't cite Wikipedia and loads of people groaned - people who are clearly too stupid to click a citation link.

And now I've contributed to generating page views on a christian site. My soul has been tainted.

Anyway, ultimately it's just a badly written, mistitled article. I also didn't quote the entire thing, there were explanatory paragraphs to go with it that were frequently even dumber than the subheadings.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one here who reads oglaf comics.

...I'm also sorry if it sounds like I'm being overtly anti-religious here.

I don't see how it could be interpreted any other way.

I'll rephrase.
I'm sorry for being overtly anti-religious here. Sometimes I forget that what I see as having a laugh can be offensive to someone else.

*shrug* We're all entitled to our own viewpoints after all, I just know there are people on here - moderators included - who identify as Christian and so might not take too kindly to it. I just don't take kindly to what could be perceived as intolerance, but you've said you'll rephrase so I accept your apology myself.
