Sometimes a synonym is not really a synonym. Jack London's "The Call of the Wild" would not have had the same ring to it had it been titled "The Call of Nature".

I noticed that if you swap around the languages, a "consummate lover" is almost the same as a "complete amateur".

I was just called a traitor, accused of sedition and slander, an a 'Murrica hating terrorist sympathizer and a stain on the honor of the U.S. Marines. So I am now advertising for a new Communist country to take me in. Must have hot chicks, strong booze, decent internet and be actively plotting the downfall decadent West.

Now someone fetch me the cosmoline.

Thought for the day, is you're pissing someone off you're doing it right.

As I recall from Facebook and tumblr without trawling back through their posts, they are in a better living situation and happy in a relationship, but still dealing with some mental and physical stuff. They did get a diagnosis for the cause of the chronic pain but haven't gotten to start much treatment yet. This week's highlight was blue lipstick.

I'm glad things are looking up for them :) Important mental and physical issues take a long time to resolve, I'd be surprised if those things were sorted already, but I hope having a more stable lifestyle will help. Anyone who's in touch, please send good wishes from me.

I've been rereading the Harry Potter books (well, relistening this time, I've been listening to the audio books at work) and Stephen Fry does a great job. I also realized that apparently Bellatrix is married, which I'd forgotten, because she's basically the Harley Quinn to Voldemort's Joker.

So random thought, our two major distribution hubs are here in Maryland where I am, and Nottingham in England. Now the former's shipping costs are MASSIVELY higher then the latter, it's easy to see why though. The furthest place Nottingham has to ship to is Moscow for the most part (there's a local distributor that handles the bulk of Russia for us from what I understand). The shipping from Notthingham to Moscow distance wise, will get you from our U.S. office to roughly Chicago, roughly half way across the U.S.

I"m finally actually reading the Harry Potter books. I've read the first... 2 or 3, I think? And watched most, maybe all, of the movies. But every time a new book came out I would try to go back and read the series from the beginning since I never really had, and I never got too far. Now that I can borrow the eBooks from the library I'm giving it another shot.

Keep in mind that books 1, 2 and 3 are lighter fare than the last four. Even Azkaban was only a shadow of the intensity that would hit the series in the later books.

to be totally fair, that's about when kids of the characters' respective ages start noticeably growing up.

Right, which is why it was a really good decision. But it's also less Harry hitting puberty and more
(click to show/hide)
and everything that follows that are the cause. I was lucky, until JK Rowling went GRRM on us (well, not quite) and started taking a few years to write each book, I was around Harry's age as they came out. Now that they're all out, how old should a kid be before reading them all?

I was the proper age progression too Method, and I would say 10+ isn't a bad age range. Provided your kid can deal with the themes presented.
