Subway doesn't make sandwiches, they make polystyrene displays that you can eat by coincidence.

True, but this is their first year with their third son gone in a more permanent manner (littlest brother just got a house in WA with his buddies) and then my kid sister will be gone as well. So in short, the nest will be completely empty for the first time.

Actually, with the nature of our Food Laws here, I can say without a doubt that they are most likely a hell of a lot fresher and more real than what you're used to over in the States.  Same applies to Burger King, KFC and Maccas.

I once saw a video of an experiment, where they took a Burger from McDonald's, one from Burger King and a self-made one and just put them on a shelf and aimed a camera on it. The self-made burger obviously became spoiled in a matter of days and after enough time basically melted. The one from Burger King kinda shriveled away but kept most of it's structural integrity. The McDonald's Burger, though, basically only got dry and hard and that was about it.

I still maintain it's not even that good a ratio. I still loathe half of the songs that people seem to think are the better ones like 'Happiness Is A Warm Gun.' I hate those songs that are clearly two separate songs badly stitched together, usually because a shitload of drugs have been taken.

Admittedly, The Beatles on their worst day is still better than most bands at their best - hence songs like 'Birthday' or 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road' being surprisingly decent despite really just being absolute dogshit when you give them more than a moment's examination.

Also, HAVE YOU SEEN THE LITTLE PIGGIES

the nicest thing I can say about that song is that it's a great political and social commentary that is totally relevant today, which is depressing. otherwise, that song is complete shit, and fuck you for reminding me it exists.

also I am going to disagree strongly with you on the merits "Warm Gun," I think that song's a damn masterpiece. the polyrhythm during the solo, the 10/4 "Mother Superior" part, the 3/4 vs. 4/4 polyrhythm when "Happiness" starts... it all feels so natural to me, and considering how fucking crazy different it gets, that's a tough feat to accomplish.

I guess I find it less impressive that it changes rhythms given that 'Buffalo Bill' does as well. Man half the damn songs on that albums are about characters with stupid shit names.

Maybe not reggae per se, but you seriously don't hear the accent? They even got sued by a black guy they knew because the titular phrase is something he would say in day to day life.

You haven't fully experienced the White Album if you didn't listen to your new copy with your friends on the day it was released. :p

My views on it are detailed somewhere in the music forum, I think.

inb4 someone starts to start going off about how vinyl will always be the only way to listen to music.

As a Beatle fan, I can recognize the White Album as the complete train wreck that it actually is.

It is both a great album and the worst. For the prototypical metal song, "Helter Skelter", there is that abomination known as "Revolution #9."

It is at once both an example of what going beyond boundaries can do, and a reason why you sometimes need to have someone to rein things in.

It is equal parts stunning, goofy, exquisite, inane, insane, exceptional, and excrement.

Four blokes from Liverpool, nicking from the best (as John said at times), going beyond restraints - and, sometimes, beyond what technology is capable of doing. (The Beatles - the proper name for the album - was only partially recorded on eight-track systems.)

I do understand the whole 'there's something on it for everyone' perspective, but so much of it is just filler bullshit that I can't take it seriously. Cut half of it out and you've got probably the best album they ever made.

I wish they had included a Clapton-less version of "While my guitar gently weeps".

I wish there was a Clapton-less version of the universe.
