Boomslang:
That's what I was referring to when I talked about overconfidence and honesty (to themselves).

Both Sven and Tai hit a point when they wanted a transition away from casual sex, to something more, but how they handled it couldn't be more different. Sven can't even be honest about what he had with Faye and how it affected him months after the fact, and he's dealt with it by not having any relationships. He's withdrawn and has wild moodswings, he couldn't even keep it together during his 'date' with Hannelore.

Tai, probably because of that honest and out in the open nature of her relationships you're talking, is trying to transition to being with someone she deeply cares about and is working hard to make Dora happy instead of just meeting her own individual needs. I know a lot of people have stated they don't like the relationship or how it's going, and that's fine, but personally I think this is basically what Sven could have had if he wasn't a douche.

For comic #2270...

1. I always enjoy the Marten walk-alongs, it is nice to see how our central indie protagonist has such a wide array to do so with these days too.  Personally, I wish he would do walk-alongs with Faye &/or Hannelore more often, but understand that the QC cast has expanded almost to The Simspons' level (ooh, Marten walk-along with The Sea Captain..."Yarr..." ).

2. I like the current story-portion showing a more vulnerable (because she is opening up) Tai.  Definitive character progress always appeals to me.

3. [Marten]: You really don't have any close friends?
    [Tai]: I've got you.

I really liked that moment, even if it was quickly passed, it is always a defining moment when someone says aloud that you are their friend.

4. Slurpees (or "Slushees", depending upon where you are) are pretty bad in general.  But when you are hot, sweating, and body-craving sugars & salt (say, after summer-heat activities), they are sickeningly-sweet goodness :-D .

bukwrm:
Ahem
Find a helpful friend, neighbor, or two-foot-tall-stuffed-emperor-penguin to stand in for Tai. Be sure to get your elbow on their shoulder. It's really not that hard with a prop. Any awkwardness in this is due entirely to the penguin. I tried it with a friend first and it worked much better, but I wasn't totally comfy taking a random pic of her for an internet message board.

cesariojpn:
So is Dale still in the alleyway being molested by racoons?

Kugai:
Well, at least she's with the right crowd now.    :-D
