TheEvilDog has been pretty adamant about killing idontunderstand, and defended Patrick, who is the only other person to vote for idontunderstand.  Smells like mafia conspiracy.

It takes a special kind of stupid for a conspiracy to be obvious about their intentions.

that might be true in many situations, where your sly shenanigans would go unnoticed, but I have a motherloving spreadsheet.

People are getting scared, suspicions are rising and trigger fingers are getting itchy...
We can't trust anyone and that means a lynching.
As none of us have any proof or evidence, I say we hang Idontunderstand.
He's been far too bloodthirsty and willing to lynch people.

 :-\

Also notice I am the only one who's tried to come up with any kind of strategy..

OK, my vote still stands for Patrick anyway.
ok, that's actually a good point. trying to come up with a strategy does help us against the mafia more than anyone else really has. but then, that makes it quite suspicious that they haven't taken you out yet, since it makes you the biggest threat to them.

'Cause fuck you, that's why. I don't have time to kill people, let alone enough to fill all my boxes. See below:

Guys, it's been a long day including a trip to the emergency room (for a friend), but I want to say a couple of things.

Someone mentioned only one killing, but Linds was strung up (a la vigilante) and riddled with bullets (mafia style).  She obviously offended a few ... interesting people.

Looking back, she did indeed nominate Patrick for a lynching, but she also threw some suspicion Unicorn's way, to the tune of some (perhaps too loud) protestations.

Patrick already has several votes, perhaps enough.  I'm going to think on this a little more before casting mine.

Dr. nervioso, were you serious about being the doctor?  Would you like to come over this evening for tea & protection pastries?    :-D :psyduck:

actually no, you know what, I defended Patrick before and I'm going to keep defending him. he's still a friend of mine, and I'm not going to betray him in this sort of panic.

he said he's going to vote idontunderstand, so...I'm going to vote idontunderstand for lynching.

It might get me garroted (and I doubt I'll sway enough people), but I'm voting for J today.  He's posted a lot without ever actually voting, and he wanted a hanging the first day.  But I'm still not sold on Patrick's or TheEvilDog's innocence.

i did not want to lynch someone on the first day, i only pointed out the consequences for not doing so. if i had wanted to lynch someone, i'd have voted to lynch someone on the first day.

and if i were in the mafia, wouldn't i be more likely to cast votes, since i would know who all the other mobsters were & could make sure to only lynch the innocent?

actually, now that i think about it, the fewer votes we have, the easier it is for the mafia to sway us to lynching ourselves! that can't be good.
there are 4 mobsters among us, and 4 people voted to lynch poor mr. fats, who we now know is innocent. the question is, did they know?

because of this, I now vote that we lynch Carl-E, the first one to vote for poor mr. fats.

Yeah, but if voting for people makes you mafia, and if staying silent means you're shady and therefore either mafia or vigilante, then that's something of a catch-22.

I think we should focus on less pathetic ways to figure out who's suspicious or not. Such as common denominators.

not necessarily - we've been pretty good at attacking our own so far without much help :/

but I do agree that there's probably at least one mafioso among those who voted for Whitey Fats (which does include me, but I know I'm not mafia, even if I can't prove it).  It wouldn't be wise for all of them to vote the same way, but Carl-E did start it.

Welp. Three for Patrick, one for idontunderstand, one for theevildog, one for J, one for Carl-E. Sorry, Patrick.

After much debate and accusation, Patrick was voted to be hanged by the barest majority. It seems the poor fellow, with his thousand-mile stare, had offended quite a few of his fellow villagers by existing. Over his protestations of innocence and pleas of exhaustion, he was hung by his earlobes until he could wear ear rings. Then he was hung from cesium133's tree with said ear rings in his ears.

Only after a search of his home was it discovered that Patrick was formerly a member of the police, and likely the only sane cop left in the village. Appalled, the villagers scurried home and barred their doors.

Bear's dead.

Good steak, though.

Oh, I know!  Who hasn't posted yet?
I usually think Gnomes is on something (have you seen him in the welcome thread?).  However, his general randomness is probably as good as anything else right now - unless we hear from an officer of the law about something he or she has found.
OK, just going on the "no posts makes them suspicious" idea, the only one who hasn't posted yet is Whitey Fats.  You may recall him, his avatar (and real name, apparently) is Randy...

I mean, I tend to believe Patrick about his job...

And though J makes a good point about idontunderstand's speed with his pitchfork, that can be chalked up to general excitability.

*sigh*

I'm just going to wait a bit.  THis is getting difficult!
[lots of meaningless analysis]

I agree Gareth probably got whacked because he was acting out, I'm sure the mafia thought he was covering something up; but since he wasn't revealed to be the vigilante or a cop or even a mason, it all must have been a ruse.  But here we seem to be going the other way, thinking that people who are quiet are covering something up.  But even idontunderstand didn't feel right about his vote [for Patrick].

*sigh*.  We're going to wake up tomorrow to another death (probably two), and we've really got nothing to go on.  All we can do at this point is hope we're lucky enough to take out a mafiosi.

But I'm going to make it a real race, and nominate the one person who hasn't felt the need to defend themselves - I move we take Whitey Fats out back.

Sorry to self quote, but you'll notice that between my suggesting that we go for someone who didn't speak yet and finally settling on Whitey Fats, there were nearly two days of deliberations!  Patrick finally joined in the game, too.  If I wanted Whitey dead, I would have nominated him earlier!

Yes, mistakes were made, but with nothing to go on, it was a random choice based on a bad criterion.  Unfortunately, no one's raised anything better to use yet.  Patrick, what kind of commonalities are you thinking of?  Voting blocks?  Do we even have any?  Anyone want to make a list?

Warning - while you were typing someone you were talking to was lynched. You may wish to review your post.

Dammit!

He voted for Idontunderstand, but that could easily be an educated guess. We are down to very few normal people now (... ok, normal in a batshit crazy kind of way for some of us *Blinking sign points at my head*) and he might have discovered who was normal, giving him the knowledge that no one he hadn't investigated was normal.

In other words, Idontunderstand could be Mafia just as easily as he could be the doctor, we just don't know. What we do know is that he most likely isn't normal and that the odds of him being non-violent are rather low (insane cop, 4 mafia and vigilante are all still running around, after all). Since we have to play smart now, this might be the closest thing to an intelligent strategy we have developed.

Then again, he could get hit by the mafia tomorrow. Hell, I could get hit by the mafia tomorrow. Let's wait and see what the results are...

Gun shots rang out twice in the night. The curious thing was that the first time was a sharp staccato, the second a single sharp note. The villagers rose at sunrise, uncertain of what the daylight would bring. Headcount was conducted. Two people were missing.

The first place the villagers go is what has become known as the cesium tree. A body was swinging from the noose. Carl-E was cut down and a single bullet hole in the back of his skull is found. The villagers search his home and discover, horror of horrors, the emblems of power of the godfather himself! Has there been a coup in the Mafia? Is there a new godfather in charge?

Elated at the death of the godfather, the villagers are barely nonplussed at the death of Unicorn, a normal villager shot enough times to make a lead horn.

The villagers gather to try to capitalize on their reprieve.

Today seems pretty straightforward to me - Patrick was the cop, and he voted for idontunderstand yesterday.  Though he only had two nights to investigate, and we have no way of knowing if he knew idontunderstand's true identity, he was still more informed about what's going on than any of us left who aren't Mafia.  It's early, so I'm waiting to hear what others think before casting a vote, but that's how I'm leaning.

also, we got one!  or, the vigilante did, I think (would the Mafia really turn on him like that?), but I'll take it.  There are only seven people left, though, four being either vigilante or goon, which is going to make voting... interesting.  I don't like being outnumbered.

Hmmm, Idontunderstand seemed incredibly intent on lynching Patrick. Did he know? Who knows, the guy can't be entirely trustworthy now that the lone sane cop is dead. Either he's one of the mafia, or the vigilante looking to cover his tracks.

I say we hang him high. Idontunderstand for a lynching!

actually, now that i think about it, the fewer votes we have, the easier it is for the mafia to sway us to lynching ourselves! that can't be good.
there are 4 mobsters among us, and 4 people voted to lynch poor mr. fats, who we now know is innocent. the question is, did they know?

because of this, I now vote that we lynch Carl-E, the first one to vote for poor mr. fats.

told you so.

still, idontunderstand is the most informed choice we can make, slim though it is.

whoever the vigilante is, i strongly suggest that he or she follow up on poor mr. fats' persecutors.
