I think it's more that she got a sword stuck in the ceiling rather than the fact that she made it to CoD unattended.

I don't see why Sam is grounded.
It's not like she took a sword by herself and caused mayhem.
She's been supervised by "an adult". Whether the adult will get written off by her boss or not, that's another issue...
Also, I don't think that Sam challenges her father like this usually. It's probably one of the side effects of being behind a mask, the anonymity and impunity...

The way I read it is she has already been busted previously and off-screen and so was grounded for a week. Breaking this grounding has now extended the punishment to a month.
