Border Reiver:
--- Quote from: gopher on 20 Dec 2012, 03:32 ---The way I read it is she has already been busted previously and off-screen and so was grounded for a week. Breaking this grounding has now extended the punishment to a month.

I read it that way as well. And he's remarkably good about the issue. Although I suspect that this will change in the not to distant future.
LittleKing:
How old is Sam supposed to be?
I'd say a kid leaving her house without telling her parent where she was going or that she was leaving at all (which is what I assume happened) IS a big deal. Yes, she only went to a coffee shop, but how was Jim to know that? Dads worry and a lot of bad things could have happened to cause her to disappear like that (from his point of view).
Is it cold in here?:
12 or 13, depending on when Jeph is talking.
Not telling her dad where she was is bad, but since the coffee shop is a more or less safe place(*), it doesn't seem like grounds for getting seriously bent out of shape. Of course, it's a coffee shop, so Jim has all the grounds he needs.
Faye has been known to drink at work, on multiple occasions (search for "Emergency Bourbon"), but there were no drunk bubbles and her speech patterns didn't change.
(*) It's run by quasi-adults known to Jim.
techkid:
I'm no dad (thank goodness for that), but I figure it's mostly for not saying where she is until after the fact. Being a smartass doesn't help her cause.
That being said, SKULLMASTER, MASTER OF SKULLS is all-out awesome. I predict that to make Moment of the Week (though it would be hard to say whether it would make Moment of the Epoch, if you want to take the whole Mayan Calendar thing into account...)
SomeCanadianWeirdo:
If we ever see a QC spinoff, it must be a Skullmaster series!
