Well, we have some pretty deadly fauna. It just tends to be of the human variety. I'd rather check my shoes for spiders than have the crime rate the US has.

And quit being dramatic Hedgie, crime rates in the U.S. are the lowest they've ever been in your life time... and literally everyone else on the forum for that matter.

Been on a downward trend for 30+ years, although speculations about exactly *why* this trend started when it did, and what factors come into play is another can of worms. I'm rather impressed that it's so steady, even through recessions and whatnot. I am certainly *not* complaining about that.

Considering I'm irrationally afraid of spiders and most other creepy insects/arachnids, I'd rather NOT have to check my shoes. Also it's not just the bugs, I'm pretty sure that every single animal in Australia is there to fuck up your shit.
