No no, after a minute I realized you had to have done something like that. I just...couldn't not say anything. I live in Indiana (sadly), so did a double-take when I read your post. You know how it is.

Method of Madness:
Where in Indiana? I was in Muncie!

Kind of a crappy son if you ask me.

I had that thought a day or three back.  The consensus seemed to be... "No, he's just a ditz!"  I've been reading this comic for five years or so, and I'm trying to remember what I found exciting.  I think the vulnerability of the original characters, particularly Faye (believe it or not).  Now Dora and Marten aren't together and he just seems to have degenerated into a cardboard punchline with no possibility of growth.  I mean, statistically, he'd have to catch a break EVENTUALLY.   But he seems to be destined to fall off cliffs and have anvils land on him.

Is it cold in here?:
Back before car engines were run by computers, it was common to try to start one, have it bang a couple of times, then stop. Then you'd try again, and the same thing would happen. Eventually it would keep running.

Marten may be like that. Someone kicks his metaphorical backside, he does band things for a while, then it peters out.

I hope the engine catches and he turns his dormant energy to the band, or at least to something.

Leetle further south. Bloomington, these days. Don't think I've ever been to Muncie...for some reason a lot of people from southern Indiana, in my anecdotal experience, don't travel further north than here or Indy. Partially for the sake of distances, I assume, but sometimes I wonder if there isn't more to it. Possibly a rural v. urban mindset, even though I'm pretty sure the demographic split isn't *that* different.
