Grognard:
can't you use the dice and token sets from non-SS units?
I agree with your reservations here: runes on a tank (meh), but runes on everything else...
we're here to have fun playing a game: not to offend every third bystander.
+ since you represent a COMPANY, it could be bad PR.
!! ask the company to replace them, so as not to cause a PR disaster ??
GarandMarine:
Why? I mean it's not like we don't sell the same token set on our website, and we have for years. I'm not offering that as an excuse I'm just saying I doubt my company is going to throw a hissy over my objections. This boxed army I bought was one of the last in the United States of it's kind. We are sold out and it was one of our most popular army boxes period, and the Waffen SS are one of our most popular armies, because, bottom line, they get all the cool toys and now, as then they were hard as krupp steel. I doubt the company would be mad about the PR either. It's OUR PRODUCT. I'm gaming with our product so why do they care? I can use the dice and tokens from wherever, they're basically decorative in the end. (The tokens that is). You really do need them to play effectively, and we have generics that are, imho, pretty damn cool, but people like their stuff to match their army, so we offer that.

I get the sense the company hand waves it all because the absolute bottom line is that that insignia is for the Waffen-SS, not the political group, Goering's perfect Aryan knights, but the German combat elite. Obviously people buy the product, so clearly it's not an issue for enough people for them to A. buy it, and not enough of an issue for enough people who don't complain about it. Then again Reenactors regularly wear detailed SS and Waffen-SS uniforms too. So *shrug* I suppose I'm probably just being sensitive, We have a new dice and token set coming out that's more generic and uses the more standard German "Herr" cross. I'll probably pick that up.
Reviewing our line, the tokens most likely to offend someone besides the SS runes, are Das Afrika Korps product, which has a faithful and histroically accurate image of that logo with swastika (most everything else we produce that would have a swastika on it is neutered) and the 2nd SS-Panzerdivision Totenkopf and 5th SS-Panzerdivision Wiking. The former obviously has the infamous death's head insignia we mostly associate with Hitler's death camps, not the Waffen-SS division, and Wiking has a Nordic Swastika as their symbol, traditionally a request for protection from Thor.
On another note from my research for building this army, the Schwere Panzerabteliung (German Heavy Panzer units, so in short, Tigers!) were incredible! Their totals from their inception till the end of the war was roughly 1700 losses (including vehicles abandoned by their crews at the end of the war, and mechanical failures) in trade for some 10,000 confirmed kills. Nazi fucks? Yes. Incredibly skilled soldiers? Also yes.
Grognard:
Check fire. Blue on Blue.
I'm not knocking your company, or you, or ya'lls product.
I'm also not denigrating the elite of the German Wermarcht.
Apparently, I pointed out a well known (and maybe tender) point while trying to be helpful.
I apologize for landing on that particular nerve.
GarandMarine:
I think you're misunderstanding my tone brotato I'm genuinely trying to explain where the company's coming from while confused about your point about the PR thing so I'm trying to provide more information.
Grognard:
eh? ok. change of subject? I've had one tot too many and am easily confuzed.
