And my suspicion with Claire is that she is afraid that scotch-monster may end up rejecting anything she eats in the near future, so she opted to go for orange juice.

It just occurred to me that if his mother actually remarried, Marten might be one of a small group of Americans to legally have three dads. Depending on the year the comic takes place and whether or not things are different in the comic reality, there can't be more than a few hundred thousand same-sex households. And while Marten's family situation is certainly not unheard of (By which I mean his parents splitting up and them turning out to both like men), I doubt it's too common.

@Garand - Even if they don't want them, it would seem.

@Quantum - Veronica's second husband would be referred to as Dad Hard with a Vengeance. Although I wonder how common a gay couple (whether male or female) is that had a kid (through whatever means) before divorcing and remarrying would be. Because that kid would have four moms or dads at the same time.

@Westrim - Her hair maybe made her look taller, so you figured she was perhaps?

@K1dmor - Not that she doesn't like hugs, but it looks more that people like hugging her. And perhaps she prefers to hug those who are awake enough to hug back.

That boy-smell is yummy. No, it's not the cologne. It's something gals like Claire sometimes find surprising, and delightful.

That was really because the space arc was centred around Hannelore, and honestly, Hanners is nowhere near as close with Faye as she is with Marten or Marigold.

And don't forget 2374 - if Faye hadn't had other things, she'd probably have been the one at the wedding and not Claire. Of course, you might still read that as being pushed into minority, but it's more an indicator that there's more to Faye's life now than hanging out with Marten.

I'm liking all the new girls so far. I say take the current arc for what it is, a way for Jeph to better develop Claire's personality as well as dealing with important background events i.e. the wedding. It's also a way for him to troll the hell out of the shippers. We see you there.

Exactly my point. Faye was such a central point of this comic, and now she's acting more on the sidelones.

I enjoyed this arc so far, but due to being a massive Hannelore fan i'm hoping we get back to the characters as a whole, individual 1-2 Character plot arcs are great and let's us understand them more, but the comic just seems to be more alive when it's all of them around.

Faye gets to be in the spotlight again when she starts having problems again. Simple as that.

Also reading the old comics is sort of amusing to me because I'm all "what an abusive person that Faye is sometimes", what with the lashing out to protect her own vulnerableness etc. Character development!
Also I forgot that her old weird speech patterns were a *thing* in the comic. It was jarring until I ran into the one it was mentioned specifically in.

On a more modern note, I'm pretty sure Claire never returns hugs, except for a half-hug moment with Clinton.
