Mafia 7: Sign Up Thread

Method of Madness:
Read the first two pages, I think I have a decent enough idea. I'm ready when you guys are!

(Although I hope I don't get punished for not being near the computer when it starts)

Zingoleb:
Nah, at worst you'll just miss out on a day or two of gameplay. Don't sweat it.

Loki:
If anyone cares, I have listed some of the special roles I have encountered in most Mafia games so far below. Spoilered for gameplay sake.

(click to show/hide)I will refer to the "innocent" faction as villagers and to the one out to kill them as killers, assuming a cycle where the killers kill at night and the lynchings are at day. GM is game master.

* Oracle/Cop/Investigator: Once per night, can message the GM the name of a person. The GM then responds to the Oracle whether the person is a villager or a killer.
* Vigilante: At some point, one of the villagers snaps and can now kill someone once per night without due process (insofar that lynchings by majority vote count as due process )
* Protector: Once per night, can message the GM with the name of a person. That person is then protected from death for that night.
* Love god(dess): In the first night, messages the GM the names of two people. Those two people are now Star-Crossed Lovers. The love god(dess) is then treated as a villager for the rest of the game.
* Star-Crossed Lovers: Those two people are so much in love that if one is to die, by killing, lynching or otherwise, the other will surely follow them into death. (ie both die simultaneously). They are aware of the name of the other person, but not whether they are a killer or a villager. Of course, there are no bounds for love, so this one gets very funny if the lovers are from opposing factions  To balance for that, they also win if they are the last ones standing.
* Hunter: Always carries a shotgun with one bullet. If the Hunter is killed, he designates a person of his choice who dies with him (may be restricted to death at day or night).
* Village drunkard/tough guy: This one is so full of alcohol that if he is killed at night, his body will literally not recognize that he is dead until one night later. As a result, he dies one night later than when he was designated as a target of a killing.
* Witch (works better in real-life games): Is told by the GM once per night who was designated by the killers as a target. (She therefore knows who was killed as a result of killer actions or other special roles). She may then choose to use a life-saving potion on them (once per game) or let them die as usual. Also, once per game, she can use a poisoned potion to kill one person of her choice. There may also be roles that have a percentage chance of converting the target to the other faction, sway votes, or anything else that would influence the gameplay.

--- Quote from: Unicorn on 28 Mar 2013, 19:00 ---I don't see a reason to hold it off; the first day is usually slow enough that you'd have time, and it's not like you need to read all seven of them to understand the core concepts.

I'm not starting the game til Sunday at the earliest. Like I said in M6 I'm stupid busy IRL and I want the game to be interesting.

Ok, I have made the roles and am assigning characters, so the sign up is now CLOSED. Expect the new game to open shortly and PMs to be sent.

Also, FYI I went with a fairy tale theme. If I decide to DM another game, I'll do the D&D/RPG thing then.
