Maybe Clinton's more aware than he lets on and realized that Marten did know about the snuggles, even if Claire wasn't sure, and that neither of them would bring it up. Probably not though.

I think Clinton is, in a weird way, like my mother-in-law. Whenever a thought enters her head, she must immediately blurt it out, regardless of whether it is appropriate or anyone else happens to be speaking at the moment. There is simply no filter between cognition and output - thought occurs, speech happens.
