Hanners wouldn't give up though.

Could you imagine the two of them playing "Temples of Syrinx"?  :-o

KOK:
@pilchard Much of it very obviously goes one two three four five. There is e.g. a long stretch at the beginning. There
are also bits where I can hear no pattern. In the middle there is a stretch that goes one two thre four five - six seven.
Near the end there is a short stretch that indeed goes one two three, but it very soon changes to one two three - four five.

@ankhtahr there are stretches with a very obvious one two three pattern, e.g. at the beginning. There are also stretches with
a one two three pattern in the background (if that is the right term) while the foreground music has no pattern. There are
also stretches, maybe a quarter or a fifth of the work, whith no pattern that I can hear.

What I'm getting from your descriptions is that you have no clear idea what to listen for. It's not the rhythm of the notes that gives you the beat, it's the rhythm of the emphases on tho notes... and they aren't always emphasized in every measure. It sounds like you've never performed any music yourself, at least not in any setting that requires you to follow a conductor. I recommend you learn to play an instrument in an orchestra or brass band, or sing in a choir, or even just take a ballrom dancing class. Anything that requires you to DO something in rhythm with music should work.
