Where did Emily go?

To her house.
To her parents house.
To the internet!
To a game store.
To a Game Stop.
To a new character, because there aren't enough already.
To Capcom headquarters.
To Marten
To the batmobile.
To the barricades.
To the moon.

    • Cesium Comics

Someone who packs two characters into a box and sends them somewhere far away, typically via a shipping company such as UPS or FedEx. It's forbidden in the forums, because shippers often forget to include airholes in the boxes, and shipping to places far away can get very expensive.

(okay, really it refers to advocating for characters from the comic to hook up in a relationship, but the above is my headcannon and you should respect that.  )

(okay, really it refers to advocating for characters from the comic to hook up in a relationship, but the above is my headcannon and you should respect that.  )

Where "advocating" may or may not include completely ignoring any and all evidence contrary to what the shipper wants to happen.

Example:

"I totally ship Voldemort and Lily Potter".
"...dude, at least one of them is dead."
"Yeah well, maybe Voldemort will resurrect her using incredibly dark magic!"
"They are on the opposite sides of the alignment spectrum, and... "
"She will totally fall in love with him because of how powerful he is!"
"That doesn't even make sense!"
"Yeah well you are missing the signs!"

Damn, maybe I should write this fanfic. You know, just to see how bad it becomes.

What's a shipper?

"Ship" is short for relationship, and the forced kind is not approved of here for reasons you will know once you've read the rules and the other stickies.

I just realized something.

They are in the library, so it's a good possibility Tai or Gabby could've heard. Or Emily (if she hasn't evac'd the building yet to get Mega Man games).

Verily, the midden hath impacted the windmill.

Quote from: Terry Pratchett, Snuff
There was always paperwork.  It is well known that any drive to reduce paperwork only results in extra paperwork.
Of course, he had people to do the paperwork, but sooner or later he had, at the very least, to sign it and, if no way of escape presented itself, even read it.  There was no getting away from it: ultimately, in all police work, there was a definite possibility that the manure would hit the windmill.  The initials of Sam Vimes were required to be on the paper to inform the world that it was his windmill, and therefore his manure.

Once Claire told Clinton what happened, it was only a matter of time until he told Marten; that's just how Clinton is...

Am I misinterpreting, or are you really trying to claim that Clinton is incapable of keeping a secret?

Aside from the reasonable assumption they might have been overheard, what's the secret? There is Claire and there is Marten. The only injury so far in evidence is Claire's now-mortally wounded hope that Marten didn't know, or if he did, dismissed the snuggle as a sleep and/or alcohol-induced illusion.

We might all be overselling this 'secret'. Looking back over the conversations, neither Marten nor Claire asked their confidants to keep quiet about it. They just said that neither of them had mentioned the "cuddling incident" and were wondering what to do about it, or Claire telling Clinton about it. So while it may not have been tactful, Clinton wasn't breaking any vows of secrecy here...

Allosaurs love spleens. the fresher the better. To ensure good behavior, always give them a spleen before a difficult or unpleasant task. It is also common to give them one afterwards, to reinforce good behavior.
Well that explains it but jeez, it really should have mentioned that when I proceeded with the screaming.

well, allosaurs can't speak english (no matter how hard they try). Also, he EXPECTED a spleen, so clearly since you didn't give him one, you were offering yours.

When people say headcannon, I imagine an old style cast bronze cannon sticking out of their head. Then I imagine smacking them, because the word is canon. As in canonical, standard, 2000 year old spelling, and the camera company.

I don't quite get why Claire had to take an Ativan - isn't that a bit extreme? This looks like a pretty standard awkward situation to me.

Well, if we assume Claire hasn't done anything similar to this since she started her transition I can see how it would freak her out quite a deal.

Claire may have a pre-existing anxiety condition. She wouldn't be the only one in the cast to have one. Evidence for that is that she had an Ativan on hand. It's not conclusive evidence because the Ativan could have been from Hubbert Pharmaceuticals.

Am I the only person who just got a flashback to the VTEC just kicked in Yo! meme with this strip?

Also, is this strip alluding to the thing with how trans folks have lots of mental problems when transitioning and taking the drugs?

At a guess, unlikely. Jeph seems anxious to avoid overplaying Claire's medical history and determined to avoid anything like a stereotype.

Besides, if I've understood anything that I've read, starting a transition enables a huge improvement in the emotional well-being of the person.

that's what i thought too. :c poor Claire. this is the first time i've really been able to relate to her as a character (previously i found her mildly irritating and wanted to get back to Dora/Faye/Marten/Hannelore).

oh i just want to pick her up and cuddle her mortification away. D:

More of a case that it's a nerve-wracking experience. Mental problems are something best dealt with beforehand.
Though the hormonally-induced mood-swings do take some getting used to for the gals, while the guys suddenly get introduced to Mr Supercharged Male Libido. Basically, nothing everyone else doesn't go through during puberty, just sped up a bit. OK, a lot. And intensified. On the other hand, they're older, more mature, so can probably cope better than 12-15 yr olds.

I've never taken an anti-anxiety drug. There were times during my transition where I could have used them, but as my metabolism was so screwed up, the very time I needed them most was the time it was most risky medically to take any. When it was safe, I didn't need them.
