Perhaps it's my general lack of engagement with any blogs and relatively late entry into the internet at large, but I've never been as enamored of Cory Doctorow as the frequent references to him I see and his awesome name indicate I should be.

I dunno. Honestly a lot of those things I see trouble if you let the general population know about. Or they just aren't the business of the average person on the street, like orientation, religion or politics. If people weren't well.. the people that we know now that might not be a problem. But there are way to many people who would use that kind of information to discriminate or even be hateful against people if it was just hanging over their heads. They do it now, just guessing or hearing rumors about people.

I've bounced roommates skeevy friends before. One time I did so as the skeevy friend was "liberating" my shirts from the clothesline while shoving them into his pants.

These were not fancy T-shirts either.

Paying rent means you have veto power on visitors. Especially visitors you have reason to dislike.

Perhaps Marigold is aware of Momo's scheming and is having none of it?

I don't entirely disagree, and Marbear wouldn't do this, but would you back her on this principle if she decided she didn't want Faye in the apartment? In your case, yeah, you clearly had cause to not want the person in your apartment, but Dale was just standing there talking to Momo, who'd invited him in (after basically inviting him over).

She's also in her underthings.

Marigold strongly dislikes Dale. Momo already attempted a sit down at the diner, it didn't work out.

I don't play many MMO's, but I used to play Star trek online. A fellow fleet member flew extremely poorly, had the damage power of an unarmed shuttlecraft, yet always hit need on loot roles. I despised him. If he had somehow appeared in my living room I'd be tempted to punch him in the throat. I certainly wouldn't invite him to stay for pizza.

And the marigold/dale situation is even worse. She's red, he's blue.

You're ignoring a large portion of story. Especially the part where Dale offered a pizza of truce, which Marbear accepted, only to immediately go back on it.

I don't think it's her opinion of him in particular so much as it is a general disdain for non-May lifeforms and a habitual gesture. Or a reflection of how much she dislikes this situation, given how she's not exactly a fan of the animes, and this situation right here, with Marigold, is getting pretty anime.

And I assume "sign" refers to birth/zodiac sign ? No I wont tell you that.

I guess that wasn't covered under AI rights.....

So... why are we not discussing the obvious question of how May knows of Momos plan? Did they exchange metadata at some point? Or could May actually be *gasp* sensible to social undertones?

The previous strips don't quite indicate how May knew of this plan, but going by available clues:

* May notes that her "existence" was determined by algorithms (not helped by I guess accidental Rule 34)
* It could be reasoned that Dale's life is "collected" by the glasses to the point where that info is complied and a "dossier" is done on him by the glasses. So it could stand to reason that May has access to the "footage" from that night, and seeing what just happened in the past.....12/24 hours(?), she could put two and two together and ask the right question to Momo. Or something like that.

And people thought the NSA was bad...........

"These idiots are WAY too socially inept for your cute little schemes to work".

I was actually wondering how May knows of Marigold's social inadequacies - she's been observing Dale, but she must have gotten some info from Momo to talk about them together as a class.

Or maybe she gleaned everything she needed to know from those few moments of interaction...

Theories.
I must point out that only May's appearance was influenced by Dale- May's existence preceded their interaction and was not modified.

Anyway, from their conversation in the car, May's already stated opinion of Dale, and Marigolds appearance and choice of chassis for Marigold, May could easily draw the conclusion that both are social idiots, no prying necessary.

Or being QC, we just outlandishly throw out theories that could fit in a world were we have sentient robots that look like humans worth the cost of a small car, an OCD introvert with access to technology that would level nations, and clearly minimum wage jobs that pay enough for rent and car payments BEFORE taxes.

Where in the blue blazes did May and Momo get their ideas of how to "help" Dale and Marigold?

There are romantic comedies with more believable ways to do it.  Alternately, they were talking to my mother (whose advice on being told that I was being bullied was to say "Just be nice to everyone and they'll be nice to you.")
