That's just how English happened to end up, "Science" is not the norm among Germanic-speaking countries. It's Naturvetenskap here too
Yeah, I'll admit once or twice I've been tempted to learn a germanic language. I have studied French and Spanish, so I can identify romance roots pretty easily. But a decent chunk of english words aren't romance in origin, so I've always been curious about that side.
So are Danish, Swedish and Norwegian germanic? If so, I learned something today.

To return to pointlessness, there was a commercial (can't find video at the moment) for a major fast food chain that ran here in Canada, that I suspect did not run anywhere else. Two bros have a contest in the restaurant, and the winner proclaims "Je suis le champignon!"*
*despite appearances, this is NOT "I am the champion". It is "I am the mushroom".
