The key thing to remember is that it's still a stereotype. So even if it's true in some cases, and even if some people make that connotation, does not mean they are justified in doing so. They have the right to do so, of course, but stereotypes should generally not be defended.

A very practical hat. For non-Australians, the "Top End" is far northern tropical Australia where it is very hot and very wet, often at the same time.
