Of course, my first reading was "don't use fire! this building is historically valuable!"
At which point I started wondering about Dora's priorities ...

Leave aside history - I took it that Dora is simply conscious that an older building is a higher fire risk. Remember also that Faye has a history of burning down buildings...

In parts of the US a hundred-year-old building is considered old. In Massachusetts, not so much (we have four hundred years of history! OK you can stop laughing now, Old World People.) So yeah, it's definitely because the place was built before modern building codes were enacted.
