I think it may be more that this is Tai's first serious, monogamous relationship and she's also a fair bit younger than Dora (at least, I think she is?). Dora is not quite so starry-eyed at the idea of having/being a girlfriend, but I think she does really like Tai.

Yeah, I think Tai's in her early 20s and Dora's in her late 20s (28 I think?) so that's at least five years, which is a lot, but not insurmountable. And tthe rest of your post sounds about right too, May.
