Actually it's more to do with what Mberan posted not too long ago about how maybe we could have a bit less repetitiveness in the Pointless thread and a lot more new funny things. When I see something six times in one thread it sort loses it's funny(or becomes no longer interesting), ya know? Something that we can easily see(like a commercial that has not only been posted all over the internet, or is constantly on tv) really doesn't need to be posted.

I never minded the webcomic posts one bit, particularly since people often posted from webcomics that I find to be inconsistent and thus I don't check them regularly.

Man yeah it would be awesome if we lived in some utopian society where everyone was aware of every post made on the forums but really that is not practical, especially considering that the guy who posted the link has less than 50 posts. And for my part, as someone who does watch American TV and has only seen that ad once before, I quite enjoyed being reminded of it! I guess maybe I am just suggesting it would be cool if we didn't take a pointless thread too seriously. It's meant to be fun and a little repetition is a) inevitable and b) not gonna kill you. Whining about it only ends up shitting up the thread with conversations like this (which I am willing to take some responsibility for!)
And, on that note: Horrible Histories!

Tip: Take any picture from the Pointless Thread, run it through http://www.tineye.com/, and find a website where it is posted along with other funny pictures. Pick any picture from this site, repeat.
