I still think "with a little help from Russia" is perhaps one of the greatest understatements in the history of the universe. The sad thing is that American text books don't really go very far in correcting that attitude, at least not until you hit AP classes, at any rate. The Eastern Front is basically a li'l footnote tucked between more important chapters, like "America!" and "Fuck Yeah!"

I find it kind of hard to claim that it's ripping off the onion when that's a pretty common perception of stereotypical Bros anyways. I mean, it also wasn't terribly funny but that's beside the point.
