meh, my 1996 nitefly (think Strat setup) is actually pretty normal weight. Maple bod.
But look at them they've stripped off all the extraneous wood. The neck on the niteflys and the entirety of the back/neck on the orig Flys are
**correction** wrapped in /**correction
carbon fiber. So they are very strong while being very small/thin/petite. All this with super slick/fast neck, frets that basically don't wear out, and some other patents depending on what model you have.
This one, mohagany neck and body. Body is 1 piece. Thin, but strong and good sounding.
The new DF series is ebony fretboard instead of carbon fiber. Hence the headstock is wider and not the old school Parker style. Why? Because it would snap off.
Believe me, my Mustang actually weighs more than a P bass. It feels good to swing about but the neck is CBS crap. It's fun to play open chords. Whatever.
Short answer: I'm old and can't be arsed to carry a heave axe.
