I was thinking that if I wore something like that it would look like I have given up on fashion and just settled on muumuus.  Kris has a very different body type from me though so it is not likely to look bad on her.  Also I like the colors.

I like the second pair Ally posted- you can definitely get away with a sandal-type shoe, since it's a very summery dress. Both the pumps Katie posted look horribly uncomfortable and cheap- a lot of ladies on Offbeat Bride while I was doing wedding planning crap had looked into various colors of those style shoes and pretty much everyone sent them back because they looked so bad in person.

I guess the biggest problem I have is that I like shoes for which the best descriptors are probably "cute" and "flashy", and people just don't make them in a middling range? Like, they are either $30 or they are Christian Louboutins. I actually pretty much hate the second pair I posted, because they have an unflattering profile and they look stupid on feet and they look cheap as crap, but they are everywhere on ebay and everyone loves them because there isn't anything else comparable.

I am going to a real shoe store tomorrow. I guess if I get something I will take pictures.

Maybe if you could put a belt around it? Like if you held your arms straight out and had someone put one on you so that you would have arm moving room?

I love love love the colors and pattern but it is more or less a large sack.

Hah I knew most of you would hate it. And nooo a belt would completely ruin the flow of it! I'm thinking wearing it with my hair up (hopefully by summer my hair will be long enough for that), big sunglasses, red lipstick and nail polish, maybe a chunky bracelet, and some simple, light coloured sandals. I'll show you guys how it's done, I know I can pull this off!

Also I've been pretty into crazy clothing lately, when I get back to Glasgow I'll post a bunch of pics.

Well, that dress sure is. Long. And flowy. And a poncho.

I kid, Kris. I kid because I love. (You, not the poncho).

Really I think my main problem with it is that it reminds me of the dumb maxi-dresses every girl was wearing for like the last four summers running.

Or are just people who prefer longer dresses? Some were ugly, but some long dresses are not bad. Personally, I really want these two. I don't like short dresses (for multiple reasons, but mostly because I'm too tall) and like that long dresses are more popular. Actually I like that longer shirts are popular too.

I actually really dislike long dresses in general, unless we're talking formal wear. Or dorkwear/clubwear, as I have this awesome black ballgown.

But anyway, I think that if you're skinny enough and you wear a damn bra, a maxi dress can look really good. But this rarely happens.

I don't really sit like a lady in anything that I wear. This can cause problems.

I was wearing my witch Halloween costume (which involves a short-ish black dress) to work and of course wore a Spanx thingy underneath it to both hold in the chub and make sure no one could see up the skirt. I went out to get a pedicure later that day, in the whole outfit except the hat, and the lady doing it insisted that I put a towel in my lap. She was more embarrassed than I was.

I went shopping today with my sister. I now have skinny jeans, and boots. Apparently the key to skinny jeans, for me at least, is to go to a new store instead of trying on the exact same pair of pants every time you go into the one same store.

Fashion thread, how do you feel about oxfords? Particularly these but in brown? (Not the brown there, those are ugly, but the ones I'm talking about aren't on zappos and I can't link from Bass's site.) Or a different pair? I need brown/tan, so suggestions would be welcome.

I really love oxfords, they are my favorite summer shoes. Watch out for bass brand though, I've had a few and they soles come off easily and besides they're stitched bottoms they're hard to repair yourself. I like them with shorts and dresses.

I honestly also dislike long dresses, but that's because they remind me of weird lingerie.

Guys I've been wearing the same pair of jeans and cycling through 4 shirts for two months, and one pair of shoes. It is driving me crazy but I stay with my partner most of the time and all my things are on the other side of the city and I am lazy.

What brands do you recommend? I don't want really pointy ones and they have to have enough support/padding in the bottom for standing in.

Also, I want these SO BAD but nowhere I look seems to have them in my size in brown.

Edit: How about these, in either rose cream or metallic pow?

I think cream and metallic are just about as nice as each other, so it just depends on what you think you'd be wearing with them I guess.

I noticed that too. The men's "Oxfords" section on Zappos is even whackier. There's sneakers in there! Sneakers are not oxfords, dudes! I think they're just playing fast and loose with the term, as I always understood it to mean a very specific type of shoe as well.
