dress shirt no. button down shirt yes.
Ballard:
I just assumed that's what he meant.
Also, a nice, white button-down formal enough to wear with a jacket and tie but cut so that you can wear it untucked is perhaps the most versatile top.
sean:
ive actually taken to wearing this cardigan i found at goodwill, i wear it with pretty much any shirt and it seems to work! ill post pics once i find my camera.
Avec:
I feel like cardigans with plain shirts is very European, then again, I am European...

so now that i am nearing my mid-20s and most of my graphic tees from my teenage years are starting to get pretty old and smelly and generally fall apart i figure it's as good a time as any to start updating my wardrobe and looking like a little bit of an adult. i don't really know how to dress myself so i was just gonna follow allison's advice from a few pages earlier with regards to future clothing purchases, which i thought was pretty solid -
--- Quote from: allison on 26 Sep 2010, 06:11 ---Buy a couple of decent button-down shirts in solid colours, a cardigan, a casual blazer, some decently-fitted t-shirts without logos/text on them. Buy some khakis, slacks, nice jeans. Mix and match, you're done.

unless anyone has anything else to add? i want to look like a smart and well dressed person but keep in mind that i am also definitely more dudey than girly and comfort is pretty important to me.
