I'm re-reading Our Band Could Be Your Life right now and I'm just reminded of the bit where Bob Mould said that the name Hüsker Dü was at at least original, and they weren't called "Youth Terror Force Distortion" or something like that

Girls should get clothes for Christmas:

They should put some on even while wearing pyjamas:

In fact, they should put them all  on:

And don't you dare disagree!

in the market for a new backpack. backpackwise, I feel like many people go for functionality over style... my last one was pretty goddamn ugly. but I figure it I have to get a new one (and I do have to), why not get something awesome?

so... anyone have advice? I like these but I wish the backpacks came in different colors. SAM K I'M LOOKIN AT CHOO

ally get a backpack made by a skate company those are usually pretty yet functional and sometimes they have straps for your skateboard!!!

so maybe you should get a skate backpack and then start skating.

I like that one sam it is on my list! I don't understand what the leather diamond is for, though?

basically, I have to carry my laptop (13") and sometimes books, as well as makeup and pencils and things. everywhere. so this bag needs to be strong - I'm not really interested in buying something second hand.

a lot of these are pretty simple in design and have laptop sleeves. unfortunately they have sort of offensive colors and patterns? but there are a couple that are decent.

I'm pretty happy with this one. The laptop is extra protected and it has lots of space, but it tends to get ugly if you kick it around.

When I have to carry a laptop around I have a tote bag, nope I'm not crazy, I've stiched all the protective bit's from a laptop (Or steal me, as they are known round my way) bag & added a zip, That way I have a nice bag on the outside, with functional on the inside.

Skate backpacks are the best as they often come in more interesting patterns & colours & are super hardwearing, I've had the same one for nearly ten years now. I used to use it for carrying a camera, sketch book etc. as well as work clothes & a change of non work clothes & it's had some pretty hairy abuse. It's a carhart one, but it's pretty huge.

My uncle works for Dakine / designs Dakine backpacks, so I've been using Dakine packs off and on for the last fifteen years or so.  I second the recommendation, for their durability, functionality, comfort, and simplicity.

The downside to those is that people are assholes who will poke the seatbelt fastener. I think that'd be a serious concern with a laptop in it.

Man when I read the reference to seatbelt fastener i thought you were talking about freitag bags.

These are like the chrome bags, but with 100% more industrial-design-bike-nerd cred, 'cause they are all made out of recycled tarps from the side of trucks and seatbelts and inner tubes and stuff. So every pattern is unique to your bag!

Unfortunately they don't really go in for backpacks (I have seen a freitag backpack but they don't seem to have any on their site at the moment).
