They're OK as far as Jordans go. I do actually really like earthy tones on sneakers though, if I was gonna get sneakers again a pair of Vegan Saucony Jazz would be high on the list.
Dovey. Dovey. I have these. And they are SO COMFORTABLE.

You can hike in them, and also play badminton, as I am demonstrating here.

Argh, stop tempting me with modcloth! Also yes, the last one would be so perfect for you. The colour would look amazing with your hair and skin tone, and seeing how you're tall you'd look like a greek goddess!

It's so weird, I used to not like dresses that went all the way down at all, but I'm really warming up to them these days. Kinda want one for myself now!

Over the last few months it slowly dawned on me that I am the only person at work over the age of 25 or so who still shleps his laptop in every day in a beat up back pack.   In an effort to look more grown up (which has been rather strongly encouraged) I have purchased and am awaiting the arrival of one of these:

I am a big fan of bags of that style in theory, but in practice I've always found that backpacks are more comfortable for carrying moderately heavy things like laptops, and better for your back. Is your laptop relatively light?

Light enough that walking from the car to the elevator to my office it's no big deal.   I expect when I travel I will still throw it (and everything else) into the back pack.

In that case, A+ bag.

Fashion thread, what is your opinion on this earring/wrap thing? I love the idea but do not know how I feel about it being pewter. (Perhaps this should be in the tattoos/piercings thread. Also, wow there is some terrible stuff on that site.)

Honestly? I think it is hideous and terrible. But that is because I am not a 16 year old boy who is into D&D or a weird 40 year old new-age lady, who seem to be the main audience for things being sold on that site.

I'm with redglasscurls on that one. It's kind of terrible but I can think of a few folks who could rock it pretty easily. Also, unless the wrap around works better than the picture seems to indicate, it doesn't seem like it'd be terribly easy to keep on and also pewter is a terrible material to be trying to wear in a piercing.

Edit - Oh god, upon further inspection of the other jewelry and clothing on that site, it's like a shitty shitty Claire's and Hot Topic hybrid  New Age theme store.

*I actually like the pyramid collection. Yeah, they've got a bunch of shit, and yeah they are kinda hokey, but you can find some damned good dresses on that site/magazine.

And I think that Saddleback is a good company, and not too expensive when you consider the warranty, and what it's made of. Good leather is expensive, and this shit will last you 100 years. Yeah it still costs a lot of money, but you'll spend $300 easily when you are buying leather bags for the next 100 years. Consider it a good investment for your grandkids.

*I should probably point out that my apartment, body, various homemade bath products, all smell like patchouli, and I dress funny(I was once told I dress "like a Neil Gaiman character") so yeah....

When I was in Florence, Italy, I spent close to $500AU on a leather handbag. I love it to pieces and I really should use it more. When I was over there, I decided that if I was to buy anything, it'd be a proper leather handbag.

See I never get this whole thing where you buy something to last you 100 years or to hand down to your kids or something.  I get sick of most items of clothing and accessories within about 5 years or so, then they break from use and it gives me a good reason to buy a new thing.  It's been working pretty well for me so far.

I used to buy $100 shoes for the office.  They'd die in a few years, I'd buy new ones, repeat.  This time around I bought a $300 pair of shoes and they lasted me a fortnight before the heels fell off entirely.  Had to take them back and the guy gave me lip about "walking funny".  Fuck you, the heels fell off.  He put new ones on and I got some non-slip tread on the soles because they were leather soled, but now it's a couple years later and they push out to one side and squeak and I'm kind of getting sick of them and want to buy a new pair anyway.  For the same amount of money I could have bought 2 or 3 different pair of the cheap ones and rotated through instead and probably have come out of it better off.

Fashion thread, I'm looking to make my work wardrobe a bit more interesting.  At the moment I have 3 pair work trousers - one plain black, one black with pinstripes, one black with very subtle stripes.  Bor-ang.  Probably going to get some nice grey trousers and not sure about kind of chocolate brown ones.  I've seen some people pull it off, but I am not sure if I am that kind of person.

Next is to get some darker wintery business shirts, as the ones I have now are all lighter.  A few ones with stripes, a couple with a grid pattern, a couple of plain, but they are all white-based at the moment.  Again, kind of boring.  Want to get some with black, brown or dark blue as a base.  Should go with the grey trousers alright.

And finally I want a couple new pairs of shoes.  I want a pair of dark brown shoes, but if I only get one pair of these I know I'll want to wear them all the time, so I'm thinking I should also get a new black pair at the same time.

Anyone have any suggestions based on that general outline for combinations that'd work well together?  Looking to have a few in mind when I go out to buy so I'm not just generally walking about looking at every shirt in the place as per usual.

I mean I've said this a number of times before but I reckon that's mostly true but on the other hand there are certain things that you want to last because you're never not going to want/need it, i.e; briefcase/bag, black shoes etc.

I should really take some pics of my Saddleback bag now that it has got a bit of patina going. It is so pretty, even the spots where my keys have scratched the leather add to the overall look and make it so much cooler.

When I was in Greece a few years back, I bought a leather bag for 60 euro (73 usd), and if it is anything like my mother's leather bag (it is) that she bought in the same area when she was 18 (she uses it frequently and it's still in perfect condition) it looks like it will last me forever. Robust, gorgeous AND cheap!

Est, my general opinion is that grey goes with everything, so I think you're right in getting a pair of those. Also how about dark blue pants? Brown is nice, but pretty much every guy I've seen walking around downtown looks really good in blue.

Yeah, I can get behind the buy quality for something like bags, but not necessarily for shoes. I tear through shoes like a motherfucker, and I've learned the hard way that cost does not equal quality. Maybe it works if your lifestyle lets you basically sit your ass down immediately after putting them on? I don't know. I have had some work shoes and boots that have lasted ages before, but they were relatively cheap.

Yeah see I don't do those either, but if I was mad enough to, they're still things you can wear often, out in the street, to work, on Friday nights, etc.
Corsets you can really only wear to balls and goth nights.

yeah corsets aren't really a comfort thing for me because I know they can apparently be comfortable. I guess that they just look too forced.
