This is some hate I can get on board with. Silly does not make you warmer. Wear something like this:

Fuzzy balls on top and dangly bits on the side are just pointless.

I always just wear my flat cap in the winter, unless it's cold enough I'm really worried about my ears. Then the watch cap comes out.

So are their pea coats. I have never seen a commercial "pea coat" that gets it quite right.

See, that is a fine hat. I don't want my anger to come off as some kind of hatred for hats. I love hats. In winter I vary between my black cossack hat (when I feel like pretending I'm Russian) and a very simple grey beanie with a "1up" mushroom on the front for geek cred. (I'd post pictures of these but I've currently no way of transferring pictures onto my PC. Stupid technology.)

Stupid hats make me angry because there are so many awesome hats.

I love silly hats simply because of the fact they are silly and I'm wearing them on my head. I would wear the shit out of the hat Darke posted. It's silly and looks warm as hell. But I would rather wear the hats I make myself because I can make a really warm hat and not spend more than $10 on it and I can make it look however I want.

Mad bomber hats fall into the utilitarian category. All the floppy bits provide warmth. There is no unnecessary dangly shit there, so you are more than OK.

I've got a pretty bad hat that I only wear inside or when I don't expect anyone to see me. Or, presumably, when I'm hunting, since it is a fleece beanie with blaze orange on one side and realtree camouflage on the other (reversible, so inside and outside, not left and right). It is comfortable as hell, though. So very soft.

The only time I ever think that about people is when they wear those bondage pants things you could fit 3 people in and far too much Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. Mario stuff just makes you look nerdy, which is much better than looking like a Hot Topic clone.

Mario stuff just makes you look nerdy

Which I very much am. Trying to hide it would be silly. Also, given what Linds said about the kinds of people who look like they shop at Hot Topic, I'm really struggling to see how a little Mario symbol on the front of a hat falls into that category.

My luggage got lost in Philadelphia (didn't make it on the plane to CT) and so I haven't been able to shave for a few days. It arrived this morning, but I'm already having fun with just this couple days of growth so I just shaved the neck beard:

Thing is, tomorrow's Christmas so I feel like I should shave it off completely. Does this look like it's worth persevering with?

I once bought a shirt from hot topic and I haven't been able to find it for a while. Kinda sucks, it was a sweet Powerslave shirt. They don't have many shirts for bands that I like, though, and most of them end up being more expensive than shirts for bands I like more.

Also: I was considering wearing a suit jacket to the Christmas eve service I went to tonight, I decided against it, but I noticed something: I have a plaid suit jacket, and it looks just fine. It is such a small pattern you don't notice it unless you are up close to it, and the colors aren't very different.

Is there any way I can make them less girly and/or what are the best kind of outfits with these sorts of boots?

- let Mr. T wear them

What are the best kind of outfits with these sorts of boots?

Andy if those boots don't fit your style your style is wrong and you should change it to fit those boots - they are excellent

Mainly because it's an entirely simple, functional hat.

Also because Mario is awesome.

Oh, I've got no problems with your hat - if you like it, you like it - but what is the difference between having a 1up shroom on your hat and having some silly or garish designs on your hat? Where do you draw the line?

You didn't notice the 'reneged' bit, did you. You didn't.

Andy those shoes aren't particularly girly, they look like good daytime shoes to wear regularly. Trying to imagine what you wear, they would work with basically anything, skinny jeans, leggings, or a knee length skirt. Dress it down with something slouchy, or dress up a plain outfit with them.

Yeah, Andy those shoes are pretty good. Not very casual, but I'm sure you can make it work.

So my Christmas loot includes the following items of clothing:

that is a) warm bright red hat b) a hippie hoodie sweater thing from my brother c) a two hole belt.

I am pretty happy with the belt (which is wide, and I love wide belts) and the hat (which is warm oh so warm). I'm not quite sure about the hippie hoodie sweater thing. What are the forums thoughts on hippie hoodie sweater things?
