Also Kevin the hamster passed away sometime yesterday while I was at work. Thank you dudes for the good vibes, I am actually kind of glad he went one way or the other because him sick looked painful. Now my friend says he's kickin it in heaven with Jesus, Karl Marx and Zeppo Marx. Here is an artist's representation:

Blog thread, next week it is possible that I am going to live out "Song of Our So-Called Friend" because this is how I handle situations and life in general, by listening to songs and taking them seriously, because I have problems, and also I have trouble writing songs so I guess instead of making songs based on my experiences I will just form my experiences based on the songs made from others' experiences and then sort of match it up in a stupid reverse order. I'm kind of having a lot of problems with thinking right now can you tell? This is what happens when you love someone and are too ridiculous to handle it in a healthy manner

Fuck you Will Sheff

Blogggg... How I love computer security.

Someone wrote an SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) to perform a security action (for locking out remote users when their access is rescinded), and without checking with me filed it, emailed it to everyone and required them all to sign the log that they'd read it.  So far so good.  So I read it....

It contained a procedure that required the user to do a remote connection to our main domain controller!!
It contained our current domain administrator login password!!!!

In principle that compromised every single one of our machines apart from the firewall; patient data; commercial data.
I don't think I have ever been so angry in my entire working life.

This happened at the end of the working day; the guy who wrote it was working from home, and is on leave today - Monday will be interesting...  I have chewed up the QA manager who distributed it; her response: 'oh, but we have to rely on experts for the content of SOPs, I just make sure they're written appropriately' - does she not know that you never   write down passwords?  Emailing a password also breaks the university's rules for supply of network connectivity.  Etc, etc - sorry, I'm about to get incoherent again.

I have (surprise!) changed the password, and I'm spending the day going through finding all the services and scheduled tasks (mainly backup procedures) that use that login - not as many as I feared, actually.

Wow Paul, that is a pretty massive mess up, good luck with fixing it.

Blog thread,

I may have swine flu. Hooray. I feel like butt. In other news, I have a girlfriend. She is quite lovely but I feel bad because I may have given her swine flu (read: probably did). Also, I have a job interview on Wednesday, which is good! It's only at a Spar, it's miles from my house, but I don't care. It's much the same as what I did in Somerfield and I can do that well and with gusto on a good day, it's easy work and I don't have to take it home with me. Money. Sorted. I just hope they'll have me!

Ok so I've been having a shit of a week.

All week I've been copping a fuckton of abuse from people at work, not co-workers or anything like that but every single person who calls up (I work at an inbound call centre) either has huge problems that they think are my fault or just complete douchebags who feel the need to argue about everything. Basically this has been angrying up the blood all week and just making me incredibly depressed and just totally full of rage and despair. This is not very surprising but it's been causing me to be all snappy and basically I've been acting like a jerk and pissing my girlfriend off who really doesn't deserve to be treated the way I've been treating her this week. I've already apologised and stuff and I'm feeling ok now but I just hate it when I get like that because feeling so fucking awful all the time just makes me feel so fucking awful.

Also! My girlfriend just came home and told me she lost her job. Apparently the salon she work(ed)s at (she's a hairdresser) isn't making enough money and they have to let her go. They don't need to fire the 1st year apprentice because she makes less than minimum wage anyway and they're not firing the other guy because despite the fact that he deals drugs in the salon, takes forever to do anything, shows up late to work by hours at a time and just generally shirks all his responsibilities, he has lots of regular clients.
So now my girlfriend is upset and we're soon to be significantly poorer. Fuck.

BLOG,

This week has been my first good week in a LONG TIME. After having my newly-purchased guitar amp damaged by UPS and subsequently held hostage in California (I live in Illinois), they are finally shipping it back to me with a check to cover the repairs. Only took five weeks, too.

Also, after the deer body-slammed my car, doing over $2800 in damage, my insurance company paid out hella-fast and I got a good friend to do the work, which will hopefully save me the deductible. Hooray! Plus, I have a brand new loaner car to pimp around in for a week or so.

Plus, I got a job interview! At a job that would use my college degree! It is a video production house and I would be shooting and editing video. Abysmally boring video, but video nonetheless. Plus, it pays well enough to finally allow me to move away from this horribly rural area.

Plus, I have had several customers loudly proclaim my amazing customer service skills. I'm kicking ass. Plus, I totally killed in sales last month. My commission check should be fantastic.

And I went bowling with friends last night and it was totally rad. Beers were imbibed and bowling-shoes-dancing occurred!

I am going to try my best to keep positive! I'm not going to think that this is all karma and within the next few days I will be struck by a meteor or a trident from the sea.

Just because you guys weren't around to give moral support, I skipped the family reunion to go paintballing HAHAHAH FLUFFERRRRRS!!!

Ok, no I didn't, I saw a bunch of people who asked "don't you remember me?" And I spent a lot of the time either eating or going "No, I don't remember you, that's why I have this look on my face that says 'why are you hugging me'."

'Twas fun tho'. Always nice to hear the Canucks and Yankees speak. Oh man, you guys sound hilarious.

Good lord it is way too hot here right now.  Everything in Berlin requires lots of walking to get between, and in this weather it is just not worth it anymore.  I walked most of the morning, saw some pretty cool things, but the weather has worn me down.

On the bright side, I got to eat some delicious falafel.  And yesterday the temperature was perfect, and I killed the entire afternoon looking at surrealist art, which left me feeling magical.

I am in Edinburgh, and the fringe is starting soon, tommorrow I am off to a lady cast members... well according to all reports its a goddamn mansion, with 14+ bedrooms. Shit...

I decided to go to the Holocaust memorial again when it was dark tonight and though I'm really glad I did it is really goddamn scary inside it when it is empty and dark.  When I was almost done my hour and a bit walk back to my hostel a girl leaned out an apartment window and asked me if I wanted 'Vanilla mit vodka' and now I'm not sure if turning it down was the right thing or not.  (I guess it probably was)

Well. Just found out that a friend of mine was shot and killed last night.

Damn. :-(

Mind if I ask what happened?

Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, 'cos, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Blaggy,

Someone almost hit me a few days ago because when I pulled out, they came flying down the parking lot the wrong way (there are directions in the parking lot, yes). So instead of hitting the breaks, which would have insured their hitting me, I hit the gas and swerved around them, almost hitting someone else, and swerving around them and making my tires squeal loudly. Terrifying? Yes. Totally awesome? Yes.

Party at the Indian reservation yesterday. I got to play Mr. Soul on guitar and Going to California on violin with the band. Awesome. The band was great, and ended up doing this weird medley of Frank Zappa/Bob Dylan/Led Zeppelin/Indian war chants/Santana/Beatles/Jimi Hendrix in ONE FUCKING SONG and it was amazing. Also: Tons of marijuana. Everywhere.

I am still exhausted from yesterday.

Edit: Of course, I manage to have this all written out before reading that. That's terrible.

When I find out, I'll tell you. When me and my mother were driving out from church, she showed me his father talking to the pastor and told me that he was shot and killed.

Update:
I feel like 10 shades of crap. Dude was killed at around noon today. He was in church, but I was too sick to stay inside, so I didn't even see him. He left early and on the road where I spend most of my time on, somebody he apparently was in some mix up with ran him down and shot him.  They managed to do that because he already walked with a limp from a leg injury.

Hell. I'm going to bed.
