I'm a bit concerned, Manchester airport is currently closed. I'm really, really hoping it's open tomorrow when Jens is supposed to arrive :S Jens, if you're around, have you heard anything?

Edit: it's back open now, but if it keeps snowing I'm not sure what it'll be like early tomorrow morning. I will keep my fingers crossed!

I changed the picture and it matched me with someone I look nothing like, but our heads were tilted in the same direction and had similar expressions.

I know, I was hoping a pokemon would come up, too!

So I walked into this guy in a store today and the shopkeeper told me it was Jonathan Safran Foer who's new book I was buying as a christmas present for my dad.

God damnit.

Also I'm about half ways in this book and I haven't encountered any of these yet. I dunno, to me it just seems like he wants to get the facts out there.

Things I shoud have done today:
Packed
Read textbooks
Revised

Things I did instead:
Started working on a very pretty website for my ice hockey club

It is very pretty, even if I do say so myself. The one I'm replacing is shocking, all frames and tables and "Untitled Document" and years out of date.

Alternatively, I don't even need to turn off Firefox, I can just shut the lid of my laptop. Which is what I finally worked up the willpower to do 3 hours ago, and then go shopping and eat dinner. Unfortunately, I still have the freelance work to do and oh my god there are 30 unread tabs still

(for the record, I was exaggerating but only slightly. I really hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch today, but I did sleep a couple hours and take a shower.)

Dear blag,

I just gave Dante, my cat, over to Becca. He's the last thing in my life that she still had any claim over. Normally I'd be saying "Go fuck and/or kill yourself" but I'd rather concede, knowing it's the last thing. Now she has absolutely no reason to ever contact me again. I hope she does well enough in life to keep him happy, but I can't say the same about keeping her happy. She doesn't deserve happiness. It's not a liar's privilege to be happy.

Love,
Me!

Okay so, I've been having a really annoying cold lately, and it doesn't seem to want to leave me alone yet. Today I'm supposed to call my old high school teacher for a reference so I can apply for schools, but I've completely lost my voice. Anyone has a tip on how to find it again, and quickly please?

I didn't notice this until now. What has happened?

I didn't maintain the B I needed in the one class I'm taking this semester. I need to talk with my advisor, but chances are the department will pull my funding. I really can't do another semester without funding, so it looks like I'm going to have to drop out and move back to California to live in my grandmother's house.

I am not a dog person. I know this because I can play with a cat for hours without thinking about it, but to play with a dog I need to constantly think about what I'm doing. This is unfortunate, since I'm housesitting a dog and a cat for about a month. I hope by the end of this I'll have gotten better at this but for now playing with dogs is confusing and unnatural.

That or try and bear hug them and chase them around. Playing with dogs is easy, just play fight with them.

I'm so incredibly tired. I got done with the shift from hell and then I had to drive home and there was clearly a car accident about a half mile from where I live, and I didn't want to stop but legally I have to. I was actually telling myself everybody was probably fine because the car didn't look so bad from head on and I really was about to just say fuck it and go home, but as it turned out it only looked OK from head on because it took a side impact and was torn in half.

Ah man that'd be scary, especially when you're not working. I was a certified first responder for a while, and I had a recurring nightmare where I was at my job at a video store and a white van would get stuck between the arms of the railroad thing and get hit. So I'd have to lock up the store and go over there and basically just say "okay don't move" for a while. That sucked and that wasn't even real

So I'm over at my brother's place after the long fucking flights from Edinburgh to Paris to San Francisco. Absolutely exhausting, I got back home around 2:30pm pacific because we were delayed at the airport for an hour. But now I'm back home (sort of) at my brother's new place, which is definitely a good spot above his old place, which was in a bad part of town and was really shit. My dad and mom came over separately to see me and my bro and it was nice to see them again.

It's nice to be back home, though I do miss the snow a little. I definitely don't miss being cold to the bones though. If I ever go back to Scotland for an extended period of time I'm getting a snuggie and several sets of thermal underwear.

But yes. America, fuck yeah, the beautiful, mexican food, drinking fountains, being in the same time zone as my girlfriend, warmer temperatures on average, I have missed all these things. I don't yet trust myself to drive though, I have to remember to look left-to-right crossing the street, not the other way, lest I get into an accident.

Jens I hope your stay in the UK is wonderful. Glasgow is an absolutely rad place.

Dear blag,

Talked to the Marine recruiter today. All I gotta do is finish my high school diploma (he gave me a number for a place) and I am basically in. Dude was pretty rad, I don't know how it happened but we wound up giving each other shit over the phone, and it was generally a good time.

Still not sure where I'm gonna stay starting at the end of the month. I'm pretty worried about that, actually. But I did find out that the coffee shop downtown is gonna be hiring mid-January. So all I really need is a couple of weeks being a poor homeless fuck.

Becca took the cat, and I miss him desperately, but being away from her and all of the bullshit associated with her is doing wonders for my health. I don't smoke anywhere near as much now!

Love,
Me!

Last final is in less than three hours.  Midterm average was in the low 60s.  Most difficult course I've taken.  Need to do well.  Fuck you, 'Channels, Synapses and Hormones'.  You are kind of interesting but really should be two separate courses because there is just way too much to know.

At least it will all be over by five in the evening and then I can go to Vancouver to see my family tomorrow.  Hurray for christmas time.

Blaggy,

Okay, the boss I have now? He's not a bad guy. The new boss that's coming in? He pisses me off. No, he actually sends me into a fucking rage for no goddamn reason, I just hate him instinctively, and almost no one does this. I actually had a fucking dream last night about trying to kill this guy.

And now I have to go face him again tonight.

I think I need yet another different job so that I don't flip out on this guy, and that bugs me because he hasn't even done anything to me at all but just being near him makes me want to commit strong acts of violence.

...argh.

Pro Tip: Don't do snowboarding/skiing with a beard. It gets wet and then frozen.

Not cool.

Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, 'cos, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I am chill! I am very chill. I'm really laidback like 97.6% of the time.

Just not around him.
