There are men outside my apartment painting the balcony. They are standing on ladders and one is looking straight down into my bathroom window. I really need to use the loo, guys, what do I do?

Strap on a realistic fake penis and hope he's not secretly gay?

Can't you just cover the window with a sheet or something?

in the end i am still not sure it really makes up for the amount of times i have had to listen to "run rudolph run" this month

I've been doing a bit of shopping in the last few days, as is my wont come Christmas time. I've also spent a few hours in airports and on an aeroplane in the last 24 hours, and on buses and other public transport. I've come to the conclusion that Christmas pop/muzak is exceptionally bad this year.

I was walking through the underground carpark to a shopping centre and they were piping this christmas muzak quite loudly through the thing. It felt like I was walking through a level in a Max Payne game. There's this otherwise unpopulated area with this music that was just tinny enough and just loud enough to feel out of place.

Man, I forget sometimes that you guys are in opposite seasons. I was getting all annoyed because she left her baby in the car while t is really hot outside and how bad that is and that the baby could die because of that, then I remembered, "duh, it's winter there".

The point still stands, though. Some people here got a commendation because they saved a baby from being left in a car.

I got all my holiday shopping done today, but we couldn't find any paper, so I am currently making wrapping paper, and wrapping presents. I still don't feel like its Christmas yet. Maybe snow, and awkward meetings with the bf's extended family will make things better. I don't know.

Of all the people in the world I could've heard from today, it was my ex in Albania who surprised me. I have not heard from her since the fucking week after I left. Apparently she lives in Toronto now. Maybe if I get back on my feet financially, I'll go over and visit. I've been regretting the way we broke up since the day it happened. Neither of us were at fault, we both really liked each other and still do. So I don't know. I'd really like it, whatever the case.

So, today I finally found out my HSC results and the universe is a totally unfair place. I did shit all this year, I spent the whole year coasting and just not giving a shit about high school yet I got an ATAR of 91.05. This is a fantastic mark - I'm proud of it and I'm not - because this the bare minimum of what I can achieve.
How the hell then did I get this mark when my friend who has worked harder than me all year, is genuinely intelligent and articulate get low 80's?
The same went for my sister who sat her HSC last year.

The teachers keep denying it but it has a lot to do with weighting, scaling and adjusting of marks to keep the averages high.

Also I got 80.00 when I did my HSC 5 years ago and I worked my arse off. Fuck you.

Okay, so it's almost Christmas, and my cousin and his son from my mom's side is staying with us for 10 days, so that they have somewhere to be during Christmas, I think… The cousin is ridiculously selfish (he's like 45, but acts like he was 25) and his kid is spoiled as fuck. And today we're having a dinner with them and my uncle, aunt and two cousins from my dad's side, and the son asked who was coming. My mom said "The kids' aunt and uncle, and their two daughters.", to which the son responded "How old are they?", and my mom answered "One is your age and one is 15.". The son replied "The one my age, is she skinny?".

The son is 12, for fuck's sake.

When my mom said that she wasn't really skinny, but she was really active, which she has been (plays football, rides horses etc.), he went "If she was active, she wouldn't have all that fat."

KIDS.

There is also supposed to be a "winter storm" heading here, hitting hard on Christmas day supposedly. My bf's fancy google phone won't shut up about it. It's been raining fairly steadily since early last night, but this morning is mostly drizzle. If it is going to storm on the holidays, it best be snow, god damn it. I want snow, not rain. Stupid St. Louis weather.

We got tv this morning. Or cable rather. As opposed to just having a tv hooked up to an xbox, and occasionally a wii. Today, we actually have channels. So far I've seen Jersey Shore(do people really act like that???? wtf. Society is doomed.) and History's Mystreies - "In Search Of Christmas," its the best Christmas related thing I could find, and I am trying to get in the spirit and all that jazz. It isn't working. Where are my Rankin-Bass Christmas classics?

I still need to make more wrapping paper. I have three things left to wrap. But that are all big. And making big wrapping paper is a pain.

Behold, my gall bladder and the stones within it. The stones are probably composed mainly of calcium crystals, and you can see the surgeon's fingertip up there, for size reference. It was like a fleshy bag of marbles behind my liver.

I am currently recovering! Percocet yaaaaay

Here are some shots of the actual procedure (probably not for the squeamish). The weird looking stuff is tissue that's been cauterized to prevent internal bleeding.

I appreciate it's quite gauche to post another entry here so shortly after an earlier one but I will beg your indulgence for a moment, if I may.

Whilst taking a break from my abovementioned sowing, I made a cup of tea for me and my dad who reminded me that it is now the early hours of Christmas Eve. This year that means home, family, and the freezing cold. A year ago today, however, it meant my friends and I fighting for our lives in a sunny little place called Nad-e-Ali. Correspondingly, a year ago today was the first time I knowingly shot someone (he may or may not have been wearing plaid). Most significantly, a year ago today was the first time a friend of mine died under fire. All said and done, it was a bit of a day.

This may come off sounding overbearing, for which I'll apologise in advance, but for those of us who, here and now, have the luxury of enjoying a Christmas safe and sound with those who are important to us, please enjoy it and appreciate it.

All the best, boys and girls.

Go and read this nook

It specifically covers this type of thing. The grade teachers give you is pretty random and dependent on a lot of things outside of your actual capabilities. Maybe your friend just got a tough break.

Hey, Patrick, I live like 2 hours from Toronto. Just to let you know.

Guys guys guys my girlfriend got me a bottle of gin and a cocktail set for Xmas, but I do not have any tonic or vermouth in the house (and I can not be bothered leaving the house and standing in the gigantic lines that will undoubtedly be at every single store today). Helllppppp

Fuck those people, those people are not me, so fuck those people.

(Also, I'm doubtful that A) Patrick will be able to make it out to Toronto (sorry dude) and B) that even if he did, he'd ALSO be able to come down to New York)
