Sounds like maybe you're setting yourself impossible goals. Make them smaller, and don't look on it as failure if you don't meet them, just see it as delayed success.

I have printed a picture of the word "focus" (one of those photos where they focus in on the word in the dictionary and all the other words fall out of focus) and stuck it over my computer. For some reason that word works for me because I've chosen it as my word for the year. If I glance up and see it, it often makes me stop messing around and do what I'm meant to be doing. But you need to find whatever it is that works for you - trial and error.

May, I love your word of the year thing! I want to come up with one for myself but I haven't the slightest idea where to start....

Redball:
"focus" sounds like the Word of the Life. For me, anyway.

Barmymoo:
I had been thinking about it on and off for a while, to be honest, because it's something a lot of the bloggers I follow did last year. I thought about all the things I would like to improve in my life, and that one word did seem to encapsulate most of them. Other words I've seen people choose are "transformation", "purposeful", "whimsy", "constant", "pursue"... basically it can be anything, as long as you are reasonably clear as to what that word means for your life.

Here is a not particularly informative website about the concept which I just found. It's typically an approach taken by Christians as it chimes with a lot of other Christian beliefs but that doesn't mean it's not valuable to people of other faiths and none.

oh hey I finally get to post in this thread

I think I can tell I'm really getting high by the fact that I'm not sure if I just said something out loud or not
like I can see myself saying something in my head
but if I did say it I wouldn't be able to see myself saying it
