Okay, seriously, I can enjoy a bout of hating on Veronica and her embarrassing actions as much as anybody, but you're kind of pushing the line between comic canon and your own personal fanon here.

Actually, there was the fact of her embarassing him when he was out. There was her dragging him around, showing embarassing pictures to his friends. Also, when he finally called her out on her behavior she shouted him down, made him apologize to her and apparently his friends thought this was fine, or at least said nothing to her about it. This isn't personal fanon, this is me pointing out what she did.

yeah, parents sure can be embarrassing and inconvenient.

I took a lot of that as being jokey - it's hard to tell from text but the way that Marten acts when his mum leaves seems to me to suggest that they're comfortable around each other. My mum and I jokingly tease each other a lot and if you wrote it down it'd look like genuine fighting.
