Does good beer ever even get advertised?

Good beer, worthy of italicising? No, at least not on any grand scale.

There's some decent beers that get made on a big scale but describing them as good is a bit of a stretch. They're the beers that set the bar for acceptable.

Good beers aren't made on that sort of scale. Mostly this is because once you get up to that sort of scale, you aren't who's main thrusts are passion, quality and character. Good beers are brewed on a smaller scale and rarely get shipped out of the region. Thus a national scale marketing budget would be wasted. Some breweries around here don't even advertise on a small scale or even bother bottling their product. It just goes straight to pump and locals are guaranteed to drink almost every batch dry.

I honestly do not know which of these two images feels goofier. That's definitely my grandma on the tsundere-mom comic tho.
Maybe 60 years younger than my grandma, but that's not the point.

How to get cheap airfare on one-way flights.

Quote
1. China wants to start one in the 2020s.
2. Well, we have the Chunnel...
3. They're getting closer to a possible prototype (and that's scary)
4. http://www.moller.com/  (however, a lot of drivers seem not able to operate in two dimensions; I say as a licensed pilot that I would not want flying cars)
5. We're getting closer to that too (and that's just one example in the works)
6. If you have a six-figure+ income or trust funds, then it already exists.  If you don't, well...

I'm inclined to say fart noise towards all of those claims (except 4 and 6). But, to be fair, I haven't read any science papers in a while, so maybe I missed something.

3 seems the most unlikely, 5 has always been "almost there" it seems, 1 the costs are still staggering and technically the US also wants one, but the return is just so little. 2, maybe small ones? I can see some being cost effective, but certainly not 100s of miles long ones, which is usually what people are talking about when they mention those types of engineering projects.

I have no idea why I wrote these all out of order like that...

Indeed, but you don't have their degree of leisure. Generally speaking, not even the very wealthy today do, at least in modern industrialised economies: In Search of Lost Time, from The Economist's Christmas edition.

Yeah, we need (non-sentient) robots to be doing all the actual work, so humans can pursue their dreams without the need for day to day labour.

Also not likely to happen any time soon, even if we did have the tech.  It's still going to be less expensive to pay someone minimum wage (or less if they're undocumented) than it is to get a robot.  Plus, the whole economy would have to be geared to create a massive welfare state in order for the humans to be able to live decently and avoid the drudgery.

Much of the scarcity is artificial.  Especially with how much agricultural land (at least in the US) is wasted growing maize for fuel additives.  Depending on population density, the main resource that is finite is that which gives one a place to live.  Things like public transport, and building up and not out would help end our oil addiction.

Well, if we're talking economics, scarcity can be attributed to any want that is not infinite (infinite in the sense that we cannot out use it even while using it for everything we want it for - like air, barring any spaceball vacuum sucking).

If you want to attribute scarcity to everything everyone should have, well then I guess that's different. Though most people have a different list for what those things are.
