BeoPuppy:

--- Quote from: Gareth on 25 Jul 2014, 03:11 ---If anything I hope there's nothing after death because the only religion I've come close to believing in would send me to hell.

Just become jewish and everything becomes negotionable.

cesium133:

--- Quote from: LTK on 25 Jul 2014, 04:40 ---What are these near-imperceptibly tiny flying bugs that are swarming the hot summer air - and after I opened my window, my room - by the thousands? They're almost too tiny to squash and there's too many of them!

--- End quote ---
Gnats.

Detachable Felix:

--- Quote from: hedgie on 25 Jul 2014, 04:09 --- Personally, I would hope that I could get reincarnated as a rather spoilt cat.

--- End quote ---
Not as a rather spoilt hedgehog? :P

LTK:

--- Quote from: cesium133 on 25 Jul 2014, 06:00 ---Gnats.

--- End quote ---
Looked them up, and their appearance doesn't match. These things look nothing like flies, they're are about half as wide as a pinhead and about twice the length. They're completely black and appear to be wingless, and they're so small that they're practically invisible in flight.

It's funny, until today I always thought that gnats were small rodents, like gerbils. It's like a portmanteau of gnaw and rat.

Redball:

--- Quote from: Nyithra on 25 Jul 2014, 01:59 ---Sometimes I think about the possibility that there is just nothing after death and I freak out a little bit.

--- End quote ---
I've never been able to shake some of the Christian teachings I learned since childhood, although I'm not a churchgoer. I've said this before elsewhere in the forum: When my wife of 40 years died in 2011, I realized that even if mankind had never invented religion, grieving people would have invented an afterlife as a matter of necessity. How can a person you love deeply just disappear?
