I am a man of large pockets. In the rare occasion I'd have to look dapper for something, I'd just drop everything on the jacket and have it under control. Pockets are love, pockets are life.

Honestly? I've sticked a wired X360 gamepad and an X360 game with case on one of my jacket's pockets once xD

Another thing, as a lady.

I wear lipstick fairly often, and sometimes carry, I dunno, chocolates, lotions, sexy stuff like that. I don't want that stuff melting in my pockets, and it's a pain to be carrying a grocery bag for something tiny (again, chocolate or cosmetics) that I happen to pick up at the store. A purse holds it away from my body, but isn't flimsy or as easy to forget about.

I also go out without a purse, but that's usually when all I've got is my debit card, ID, and a hair tie, shoved in someone else's pocket because I'm probably wearing a dress. Like if I'm going to a show or something.

(none of this is to say that ladies need purses, but yes, I think it would be reasonable to expect Claire might want/need to carry one, especially since I think they came from work, and also she seemed really excited about dressing up the last couple times and you'd think she'd want to include accessories- unless her purse(s) doesn't/don't go with this outfit.)

The hair twirling in panel 3 is absolutely adorable.
Well, a girl twirling her hair is considered by some as a sign of incipient arousal... Hmm....

It is?

.....I need to write that down.....

So, what'll tonight's comic be?  Awkward dessert time with the two of them studiously avoiding eye contact as their tongues get busy with the ice cream, or will What Claire Wants To Do Next cause this ship to suddenly charge full steam a-head?

Panel 1 Claire to me seems like the cutest so far, mostly cause she seems so at ease at that moment.

Also, as far as the purse thing, she is more the practical type so she might just have her wallet and that's it.

Is Jeph updating later than before becoming the new normal? He used to update ~11am my time but lately it's been mid-afternoon. There was that one time he fell asleep but ever since then it's been around the same. I might need to get used to Dumbing Of Age updating first (that was 2:01pm sharp, now 3:01pm because I think the US just turned off DST?).

I think U.S entered Daylight Saving Time recently, which is why updates in "normal" time come later.

That ans a few weeks ago we was uploading then de fact early with frequency, but not as much in this past week.

I'm on Central Time, an hour after Jeph, and lately he's been updating by 9-10 PM, often earlier, although a few recent ones were later.  D&D nights change his posting schedule, of course.

Also, I've been reading this comic for a while, and I remember a time a few years ago when he wouldn't update until 1 or 2 AM, my time (2 or 3 AM, his), and sometimes even later--and for some weird reason, I would wait for the new comic to appear before going to bed.  Not the wisest habit when you work mornings.

Edit: and the comic was uploaded while I was posting this. Yay, cute!

So much cute!

Every cute moment these two have makes me wish they simply end up together when the comic eventually ends.

I'm "feeling" this relationship way more than anything Marten had before.

BONUS COMIC!  Claire discovers she's allergic to fudge, barfs on Marten's shoes, headbutts him in the junk.

Mumbles something about Hitler.

Cuteness is measures by by the decisquee levels. We are now at 3.8 thousand decisquees and rising. Still within safety levels for most people, but diabetics should be warned to have insulin on hand, in case of sharp spikes in squee.

I think that this nicely rounds up the week's strips. Not exactly sharing an ice-cream and feeding it to eachother. Still a cute couple moment, though.

Nothing too highly charged has happened, which I think makes for 'mission accomplished' for Marten, I think. I suspect that his main goal was to get Claire to transcend her insecurities and be comfortable with him. Things will get tougher from here as they begin to navigate the nuances of a relationship but this evening has been a good memory for them both.

I think that we can leave them now to watch the sunset together. :-)

If that doesn't become canon, it should.
They aren't quite ready for the 1812 Overture.
Really surprised no-one acknowledged this as a level 10 groaner.

One that can upset the tum so much, I'd have to get a loan of some antacid. Maybe some borrowed Eno.

3.9k decisquee and rising.

3.9k decisquee and rising.

We need to bring that level down with some  D'hhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, because if the next comic has Marten licking ice cream off the tip of Claire's nose (or vice versa) the squee could hit critical mass.

Someone in Northampton needs to find that spot.

Eating ice cream.
And having a major relationship moment.

If that doesn't become canon, it should.

3.9k decisquee and rising.

See, now I'm confused. Like decibels or decimeters? Because decibels are a logarithmic measure of a ratio, so unless one decisquee is a very very small amount that's an 3900 decisquee would be To be clear, if 0 ds measures 1 to 1 sqee, and the decisquee is otherwise equal to the decibel in definition, 30 decisquee would measure 1000 squee. 3900 decisquee would be equal to 103900 squee. I was going to write that out but then I realized how much page that would take up. Imagine this:

0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

39 times. Then put a one in front of it. I wanted to give an idea of how impossibly loud that is, but it's actually (in theory) impossibly loud, at least on Earth. At 10194 sound just stops getting louder because the atmosphere can't transmit it, as far as we know. At this point the sound is basically a shockwave traveling at or above the sped of sound.

Of course, if you meant deci as in decimeter, then 3.9k decisquee is equal to 39,000 squee. 39,000 or 103900. Either way, that's an alarming amount of squee. I just want to be Claire hear.

Besides, "deci" simply means "tenth". A decimeter is 1/10 meters. Decibel is sort of special because noone uses the base unit "bel", but a decibel is still a tenth of a bel.
