Besides, "deci" simply means "tenth". A decimeter is 1/10 meters. Decibel is sort of special because noone uses the base unit "bel", but a decibel is still a tenth of a bel.

True. 390 squee wouldn't be an alarming amount. But that only makes the question even more relevant.

I think that you're taking Zoe's post a mite bit too seriously there, RF!

This is serious business. We might be dealing with more squee than the human body can tolerate! Lives are at stake, man!

So Dora said Marten's pretty vanilla. Claire's adding French vanilla to the mix. Wishing them all the best.

What exactly is "French" vanilla? Vanilla is grown on tropical and subtropical islands, like Madagascar and Reunion, so I'm guessing we're not talking about the spice's origin.

So next week we see Faye descend into alcohol-fueled bitterness that's as angry as this week has been sweet, right? This week has been all sweetness and light, I need a palette cleanser!  :-D

What exactly is "French" vanilla? Vanilla is grown on tropical and subtropical islands, like Madagascar and Reunion, so I'm guessing we're not talking about the spice's origin.

Quote from: Wikipedia
The term French vanilla is often used to designate preparations with a strong vanilla aroma, containing vanilla grains and sometimes also containing eggs (especially egg yolks). The appellation originates from the French style of making vanilla ice cream with a custard base, using vanilla pods, cream, and egg yolks. Inclusion of vanilla varietals from any of the former French dependencies or overseas France noted for their exports may in fact be a part of the flavoring, though it may often be coincidental. Alternatively, French vanilla is taken to refer to a vanilla-custard flavor.[20] Syrup labeled as French vanilla may include custard, hazelnut, caramel or butterscotch flavors in addition to vanilla.

So, basically, it's how it's made, not where it's made.

Of course, if you meant deci as in decimeter, then 3.9k decisquee is equal to 39,000 squee. 39,000 or 103900. Either way, that's an alarming amount of squee. I just want to be Claire hear.
It would be 10390, assuming decisquee is an abbreviation of "decibels of squee" (you forgot to divide by 10 in the exponent for the "deci" part). If it's decisquee as in tenths of a squee, then it would be 390 squee.

One wonders if it makes Jeph as happy to see his characters this way as it does his readers.

I hope so; you bring that much happiness, you deserve to share.

See, now I'm confused. Like decibels or decimeters?  -- whoah, lets not go there again ---
Of course, if you meant deci as in decimeter, then 3.9k decisquee is equal to 39,000 squee. 39,000 or 103900. Either way, that's an alarming amount of squee. I just want to be Claire hear.

The thing is, how big is a squee? Having worked as a Beaver and Cub Scout Leader for a while I can tell you that the squee coefficient and threshold levels vary from rugrat to yardape to adolescent and knows no gender bounds until adolescence.

What we need is a reproducible and consistent measure of cuteness. I propose we use the Kitten as a baseline unit of measure.
Now my question to those more pedantic/analytical than myself is this: Would the scale be linear, logarithmic, exponential or something completely different like Banana?

What exactly is "French" vanilla? Vanilla is grown on tropical and subtropical islands, like Madagascar and Reunion, so I'm guessing we're not talking about the spice's origin.
French vanilla. The name refers not to a vanilla variety but to the classic French way of making ice cream using an egg-custard base.

One wonders if it makes Jeph as happy to see his characters this way as it does his readers.

Based on some posts on Jeph's twitter feed, he's having a particularly happy time in his life right now. Maybe he wants to reflect  this in his art?

In any case, it is my feeling that he intends to create a dichotomy of the beginning of Marten x Claire and the end of Angus x Faye. So, yeah, I'm still expecting the decisive meeting of the latter at some time soon, possibly next week. Then for an emotionally exhausted Faye to come home and feel even more guilty that she's a downer after Marten had such a good time.

Other than Marten/Faye and Pintsize/AnythingThatMoves, have there been any situations in QC where love, lust, or attraction wasn't reciprocated, at least for a little while? I can't think of a single time when someone tried and *failed* to start a relationship. (Once again, other than Marten/Faye.)

I can't really call it from day 1, although I have to say that out of the three interns if something did happen I would have preferred it to have be Claire. She seemed the most interesting out of the bunch (2207 and 2208). I took a two year hiatus from reading the comic so I missed all the build up, but I guess I would have thought it was something that Jeph was going to continue to troll the readers with (he only did it for about 1 and half years, but still...).

I think for next weeks poll it should be what turkey twist is going to happen.
