Disney cartoons and their live action remakes

Lines:
Disney needs to really look into doing things that are, I don't know, original. That list of remakes is overwhelming.

To be fair they mostly did fairytales in the old days anyway, far from original really.

That does raise the question of whether or not a re-interpretation of a work (and perhaps how far one goes in changing it) is an original work of art rather than a remake.  Kinda like how Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood" is more than MacBeth with samurai.  A lot of the Disney classics are the same way, being different enough from the source material to qualify as something new instead of some simple cash cow.
