BEST GAME EVER (played)!

<< < (18/24) > >>

Finding Emo:
Grim Fandango! I totally and utterly forgot about this game.
Wonderful wonderful characters, brilliant plot, beeeeeautiful locations and fantastic script. All put together make one of the finest puzzle-adventure games ever created. I've yet to come across a game where I felt so deeply for the characters as I do with this game.
I highly reccomend it to anyone who can find it, it is rather old now, so would be a challenge to find it.

Burninated Peasant:
Good luck trying to get Grim Fandango to run if you've got XP. I tried everything I could think of and couldn't get it to work.

Speaking of games I wish would work on my computer, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the original System Shock. While I wouldn't give it my #1 vote, it is widely viewed as one of the best games of all time.

System Shock 2 is freakin' amazing as well. The atmosphere is phenomenal... it's the creepiest game I've ever played. Anyone who says Half-Life scared the bejeezus outta them should try SS2 with the lights out. Those damn spiders sent shivers up my spine.

As for best game ever, I dunno. I'm an oldschool nerd, so I'm going to be the first in this thread (I think) to elect NetHack.

unknowner:
Actually, Grim Fandango runs fine on my XP box. I dunno what you're doing wrong...

For my favorite games, I'd say Phantasy Star 4 (Genesis) as my fave RPG - it just blows FFVII away in story, and in the coolest villain EVER....
For action, it's a toss-up between Gunstar Heroes, Vectorman, and the Armored Core series. All are just great stuff.
For artillery-shooter, Gunbound. It's free, it's awesome. Go get it now if ya haven't.
For racer, NFSU. Not 2, 1. It just rocks...
And finally, for arcade/oddball game, Dance Dance Revolution (either Extreme2 or 3rd mix). I loves the DDR. I loves it good.

Tearon:
The Best Game Ever really depends on what genre you're looking at. If you are, for example, looking at the flight simulator genre, then the Ace Combat series really tends to dominate it. If you are looking at something a bit more open ended, like the RPG genre, then you get alot of stuff to think about. I guess FF7 WOULD be on my list if it was a bit more challenging. Or at all challenging. On the other hand, I guess that depends on who you are. I beat it before my friend did. My friend was already at the final boss when I started. Plus he was using cheats.

In any case, I guess the only game generic enough to score the best over all would have to be pong.

I still have an original pong. It's the bee's knees.

nihilist:
See, I don't put the FFs or any related genre game in the RPG territory.  RPGs are...  D&D style.  Yes.  That's it.  Anything else just doesn't fit into my world view.  And FF7 > *.  That was the most awesome game.
