Maybe I won this pun battle. Maybe you did. Maybe we...tied.

Thrudd:
Mayday Mayday - Pun Overload .... or did someone go overboard?

So, the great (great!) Billy Wilder had a piece of writing advice;

--- Quote ---The more subtle and elegant you are in hiding your plot points, the better you are as a writer.

I think Jeph's doing an admirable job of that at the moment. Important to note; Shipping is happening fairly strongly in-universe right now.
So this can

1) Bubbles doesn't have feelings for the Pugnacious Peach, but ends up feeling pressured into it, Problems Occur, moral lesson Shipping is Wrong
2) Bubbles has feelings for Faye, is encouraged into admitting them and
2a) Faye reciprocates, which is... a path that is quite fraught.
2b) Faye doesn't, which is Problematic
3) Bubbles doesn't have feelings for Faye, realizes she doesn't have feelings for Faye, and this is all just a moral lesson Shipping is Stupid.

And of course I could be missing some. But I don't think 'pulling the rug out from under people' is the most likely choice. It's simply one more potential item on the menu, and I'd argue 3 is the least likely, just because it's the least interesting.

Has anybody else here read the webcomic "I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space!!!" by Rosalarian? I'm wondering whether Jeph is going to go down a similar route to Rosalarian with the fan-preferred pairing in her comic (Alice/Betty); when the comic ended she deliberately didn't have them get together as she wanted to subvert the standard "story ends with characters neatly getting into new relationship", and had in fact been planning things this way all along. A lot of fans were upset at this decision as they'd spent months shipping these two characters and felt disappointed that they didn't get a more conclusive ending, and at first I felt like that myself, but now in hindsight I admire Rosalarian for finishing the comic how she wanted to rather than trying to appease shippers. She wanted people to get attached to these characters and the idea of them being a couple so that the ending would give them something to think about - and, in some ways, come across as more realistic.

While circumstances in QC are notably different, as there are no known plans to end the comic in the near future, I'm curious as to whether Faye/Bubbles will be given a similar conclusion. I've personally always interpreted any romantic feelings as entirely one-sided on Bubbles's part (though that may be because I'm a fan of unrequited love plots.. relatable and all :P), but it'll be interesting to see which outcome ends up prevailing.

The hell? Even when I go to the actual picture link I get the third party hosting thing. Holy shit, I went to your photobucket, found it, and clicked on it, and I still got the third party hosting thing, when trying to look at it on photobucket.
