I realised that I would love to see May amd Winslow in a game like Tyranny or Pillars of Eternity.

I never realised tea could be considered as robot opium, still I have the thought that tea is at least regarded as legal. Nobody will need to declare war on China for this one!

Is there any easy way to find the guest comics that Jeph does for other webcomics?

I liked the one he did for XKCD but that's the only one I know how to find easily.

I don't know whether that's on the wiki but it's the only hope I can think of.

My suggestion for a Game would be Balder's Gate or Maybe Neverwinter Nights.
Who would play the Ranger and his Trusty hamster Boo?
(click to show/hide)

I was going to suggest "Planescape: Torment" but that one may be a little to dark for our crew.

The video games listed in the poll... half of them I've never heard of, the other half I've never played.  I am, though, reminded of another comic's arc where someone (while clearly dreaming) found themselves in TES:Oblivion, along with another major character.  After a strip or two of 'this game isn't even multiplayer!', they split up.  I can easily envision Winslow and May in a similar situation in Skyrim.  Winslow, after his initial disbelief, would become resigned to making the best of the situation and start out following the main quest.  May... is May.  She'd be off like a shot, and by the time Winslow's meeting the Jarl for the first time, she's already being chased by angry NPCs and livestock from three or four holdings, and accidentally burned down Winslow's next quest location on the way.

How long has it been since Marten played a meaningful role in the comic?  Is this unprecedented?

It's unprecedented that he's in a happy functional relationship. People in happy relationships have a way of disappearing from the strip.

Marten will show up every now and then to eat cereal, but his days as the protagonist of the strip are over. Faye is the lead character now.

I don't believe there is a single lead character. It's an ensemble cast, with different characters taking the stage depending on what story Jeph wants to tell next.

I would still like to see Marten develop new goals in his life via some kind of epiphany, and begin the work to achieve them, but there are plenty of other good stories being told and I'm happy to wait.

Pretty much. Marten might have been the original character, but with the largest focus of the comic split between the apartment and Coffee of Doom, its obvious that the comic has a large ensemble cast. Which is really handy for a long running comic. Jeph can swap out characters for stories and have the freedom to develop them that doesn't require constant appearances from certain cast.

It is, but I imagine if enough people saw AI's enjoying it they'd probably declare them addicted and seek to ban the substance.

Now I'm imagining Breaking Bad with tea.

World Wide Ladies Robot Wrestling? It could work but never with Pintsize in control. No offence, Pinty, but I don't think that you've got the right candidates for the kind of female fighting that you'd want to see!

You know... Even if this doesn't work out as a wresting troupe, I think that they might be able to make this work as a Kick-Ass 2-style super-vigilante group! That said, I don't think that Northampton is quite ready for such a band of crusading heroes!

Prediction: Brun lent Pintsize the harpoon gun for reasons best left unexplored.

I just realised that Marten is Jack from Alice Grove. First on screen, but really Jeph likes telling stories about (and drawing) women! :D

Or is Punchbot actually female?

Maybe Punchbot is non-binary/agender/other? Maybe people just assume male gender because of the lack of curves on their chassis and Punchbot just doesn't bother to correct them when they do? Pintsize did start with "Ladies and whatever" and all of the others he was talking to have identified themselves as female, so....

I'm not even sure if all of the bots actually have a gender in the first place beyond convenient pronouns when dealing with humans.

We also have other examples of AI having unisex chassis such as the older plotline about Pintsize and his freakout about not realizing that his one date was also male

Guessing that Brun probably likes something particular to the texture, (slight) staleness, etc of a day-old vs. fresh.

Well, Jeph's back and Claire... I don't know. Is anyone else thinking that there is something weird going on here? Claire is approaching Renee with an expression that suggests that she's looking for a hit of something decidedly illegal! Maybe that's just Claire (I don't think we've ever seen her buying baked goods from a family store before). It just seemed weirdly out-of-context. Maybe I don't get Claire as well as I thought I do.

Meanwhile, Brun is still subsisting on day-old goods and I'm pretty sure that can't be good for her, long-term. That said, her expression in panel 3 is hilarious: "Does... Does this mean I'm not the special one anymore?" Panel 4 is funny too; Brun seems to be wondering to herself if there is an upper limit of free day-old pastries she can eat that no-one told her about previously and maybe fretting that she'd transgressed some unspoken social boundary (again).

Well, at least Brun is being honest.

She literally wouldn't be Brun if she wasn't being honest.

Almost thought this was another guest strip - new look for Claire.

Good new look; Jeph seems to be getting a handle on how to draw her with shorter hair.

She likes that she gets them for free; she has no income.  And Claire wants them because they are half price; she is a grad student.

Art style seems... thicker? The lines or the perspective or something. Still, I think Brun will survive with just 5...
