I was disappointed that we didn't get a "berf" this time.

Also I can't help but wonder how animated strips like this are printed in the eventual physical book.

The cheap yet not as visually appealing solution is to either

* ghost the image on the page
* two pages that you can flip back and forth between
The more expensive solution could be any of the following

* A clear foil page overlay the reader could flick back and forth over the page
* embed one of those prism cards on the page that switches between the two images
* a clear foil hologram for a similar effect
* something I didn't think of as yet

Ah yes..."berf" is definitely one of the best SFX that Jeph's introduced here.

I was rereading the strip recently, and got to the one where Hannelore is demonstrating her one-foot kick drum technique, and that made me wonder about the same thing; just adding motion blur isn't quite the same.  Though, I've been wondering if/when we'll be getting volume 7 anyhow (much less getting this far in the strip).  With the format changes and the addition of animation, figuring out how to adapt the thing to print on a page must be a real challenge.

Some sort of Augmented Reality trigger imbedded in the page to signal the interface device to display the animation in your field of vision!
